Miami Production Company, Sobe Brooke Studios, Co-Produces Star-Studded Thriller with Radar Pictures
Under the Bed to Hit Theaters Next Year
MIAMI, Sept. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Miami-Based Sobe Brooke Studios, an independent production company specializing in producing motion pictures for theatrical release, just wrapped up production for one of three films they are working on since partnering with legendary LA production company, Radar Pictures.
Under the Bed, a thriller inspired by true events in which a stalker takes up residence under the bed of his female target, just finished filming in Salt Lake City, Utah, with plans for a wide release next year. Written and directed by Daniel Myrick of the Blair Witch Project, the indie film has star power behind it with Hannah New, from the TV Series Black Sails, starring as the lead actress and Appian Way, the production house run by Leonardo DeCaprio, joining the production team.
Under the bed is the first of a series of films that Sobe Brooke Studios and Radar Pictures are producing together since announcing their partnership last year. Justin Shaner, CEO of Sobe Brooke Studios, which specializes in producing independent films in the $1-$15 million range, and Hollywood producer Ted Field, chairman and CEO of Radar Pictures, formed the unique partnership giving the Magic City a direct link to one of Hollywood's more renowned producers and providing Radar Pictures with a stronger presence in Latin America and the East Coast.
"This is an exciting time for Sobe Brooke Studios. By joining forces with Radar Pictures we now have the ability to feature well-known actors and actresses in films and get those films into theaters," said Shaner. "Out of thousands of films made last year only a few hundred made it to theaters. Radar was two for two."
With over $7 billion in revenue, Radar Pictures is a leading independent production company that has produced over 60 feature films, including The Last Samurai, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Runaway Bride, Mr. Holland's Opus, Jumanji, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, and Three Men and a Baby.
From securing leading writers, directors, and actors to connecting investors with studio and independent films, Sobe Brooke Studios offers Miami a premier connection to Hollywood.
"Miami has always been a great place to film because of its diverse scenery and tropical climate and we are now continuing to expand its reach to Hollywood," added Shaner. "With our new partnership we offer tremendous opportunity and structure to those seeking to break into the film industry. We also provide South Florida producers and production companies the ability to attach name talent, writers, and directors to their film projects that already have equity, giving their films a much better chance of getting a wide release."
