Global Citizen Expands To Canada Ahead Of 2014 Global Citizen Festival
Global Citizen and Cause Company will Host an Event to Celebrate Canadian Expansion of Movement to End Extreme Poverty by 2030
TORONTO, Sept. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Citizen, the organization behind the annual Global Citizen Festival held in New York in September, is expanding its global reach with the expansion of the Canada office as part of the movement to end extreme poverty by 2030. The expansion comes ahead of the third annual Global Citizen Festival, a free ticketed concert on the Great Lawn in Central Park, that will feature performances from JAY Z, No Doubt, Carrie Underwood, fun., The Roots and Tiesto. The Festival will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2014.
In celebration, Global Citizen has teamed up with Cause Company, a division of Kbs+, to put on a unique action oriented event, hosted by Tony Chapman on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Guests will be asked to build the movement to end extreme poverty at www.globalcitizen.org by taking small, but meaningful actions including taking a selfie for the #ShowYourSelfie campaign to call on world leaders to prioritize the rights of young people Guests at the private event will have an opportunity to win a trip to New York City to attend the 2014 Global Citizen Festival.

Global Citizen engages thousands of people all over the world to work together for a world without extreme poverty. Part of the ongoing campaign to end extreme poverty, the annual Global Citizen Festival is a free-ticketed concert that focuses on specific issues including education, vaccines and sanitation.

By signing petitions, emailing world leaders and sharing content with their social networks, fans become active participants in campaigning for positive change. This year's event will be broadcast live in Canada on MSNBC, and will be livestreamed on MSNBC.com.
