Are you America's Smartest?
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Mandalay Media Arts is searching for the next great visionary who has an idea that will change the world. The competition reality series, titled "America's Smartest," is the latest production from Mandalay Media Arts which will be produced by Creators/Executive Producers Michael Sardo and David Zelon. Rolfe Auerbach, Co-Executive Producer and principal of Brand in Entertainment, is spearheading sponsor integrations. The series is scheduled to debut on the Discovery Channel in April, 2015.
Created as a platform for undiscovered visionaries, the show is looking for out-of-the-box thinkers who are creative problem solvers. In each of the first nine episodes, contestants will creatively attack challenges dealing with social, recreational and educational issues, i.e. they will create something that will make the life of a person with a disability better, show us the classroom of the future, create a new form of energy, demonstrate what home entertainment will look like in the next decade, etc.
The judging is based on three criteria: Imagination, Ingenuity and Impact on the world. The winners of the first nine shows compete against each other on the tenth show for the title of "America's Smartest."
Contestants must be 18 years of age. Applications will be available online at AmericasSmartest.tv beginning August 15, 2014.
"This is not a 'how to' show - it's a 'what if' show," says Michael Sardo. "As we watch the contestants present their answers, the audience will be thinking - wow, what if that really existed?! Just like the way audiences marveled at the communicator on Star Trek back in the '60s and said, 'What if there really was a phone with no wires that you can carry in your pocket? That would be so cool!'" adds Zelon.
"We're thrilled about AMERICA'S SMARTEST," said Eileen O'Neill, Group President, Discovery Channel. "Discovery is all about being on the forefront of big ideas and bringing viewers the most innovative and new content in the market. What an exciting opportunity to work with contestants who could potentially have that next huge, world-changing idea."
