TORONTO, Aug. 6, 2014 /CNW/ - It was a heart-breaking homecoming to
Canada for Cormac and Nicole, as their hopes of staying in the race
sank with the Yukon River rushing below. The son and mother team from
Winnipeg were the fourth team eliminated from the race, just one leg
before the Race would turn up in their hometown.

Cormac and Nicole fell far behind the pack when Nicole struggled at the
biathlon Roadblock, taking a whopping 22 attempts to shoot all five
targets. "I've always taught Cormac never to give up, and I could not
give up now," said Nicole at the Pit Stop, fighting back tears. "Never
gave up," added Cormac. "She did it."

Episode 5 Recap

From the Pit Start in Macau, China, eight teams travelled over 11,000
kilometres back home to Canada to the mighty Yukon. Once there, teams
made their way to Sky High Ranch and chose from the sled dog challenge
or the camping site Detours. From the Detours, teams made their way to
the gruelling Roadblock, where they had to complete a Snow Bike
Biathlon. After cycling a one kilometre circuit, the participant had to
hit all five targets with only five rifle rounds. If a target is
missed, they had to cycle the course and try again until all five
targets were hit. From the Roadblock, teams made their way to a portage
challenge and canoed their way down the Yukon River to the Pit Stop.

Alain and Audrey became the first team on Season 2 other than Natalie
and Meaghan to win a leg, earning a trip to any of the Sun destinations
that Air Canada rouge flies, and $3,000 on their Scotiabank Gold
American Express card.
