KEVIN DEVINE engages and rewards fan base with the release of free app with in-app premium editions

PASADENA, California, June 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Acclaimed independent musician Kevin Devine, in conjunction with Contendis Inc. - a provider of 'artist to fan' app services - releases 'The Official Kevin Devine App' for a renewed and exclusive fan experience. The app provides fans a free central hub for all Devine's social media channels, music, news, bio- and discography, tour dates, ticket sales, merchandise and promotions as well as exclusive 'app only' content within paid premium editions.

Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Devine says, 'My relationship with those who have supported my career is something I am fiercely protective of and immensely grateful for. Decisions I make about how and when to release music and other content are always done with them in mind. At the same time, similar to what we did with my recent self-release of the "Bulldozer" and "Bubblegum" records, I love to test new grounds within the music industry and find ways to make that relationship ever closer. This app is a step towards that, bringing all my past content into one place, as well as providing a platform for the future."

With the initial launch of the app, two premium editions will contain the original acoustic demo recording of all the songs from the Bubblegum and Bulldozer albums. Premium app editions can be purchased for $7.99 each, or fans can subscribe to the app for $19.99 per year and have access to all premium editions during their subscription period. Devine will announce other editions shortly.

Contendis CEO, Tsjerk Kooistra says, "The Kevin Devine app is different than most music apps. Our 'Artist to Fan' platform gives Kevin not only a way to offer special promotions, personalized merchandise and recordings, but also allows fans to purchase exclusive content either in-app or via an 'all you can eat' subscription. Many artists have access to newly created or archived content such as live concerts, acoustic versions, demos, outtakes and special compilations etc., and by making this content available via a dedicated app, Kevin can continue to engage his fans in a personal and intimate manner. Now rather than receiving little or no ad-revenue income from media sites like Facebook and YouTube, artists like Kevin can further support their careers outside of a traditional record label and album release model. They know that their fans are willing to pay a small fee to be part of an exclusive fan base, receive a better user experience and get unique content without annoying advertising and clutter."

'The Official Kevin Devine App' is available on Apple App Store for the iPad/iPhone and in Google Play for smartphones and tablets running on Android. The app is also available on Kindle and Fire tablets through the Amazon Appstore.

About Kevin Devine:

For more than a decade, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Kevin Devine (Bad Books, Kevin Devine & The Goddamn Band) has organically grown a passionate fan base, evident in 2013's successful Kickstarter campaign. The crowd-funded campaign, which raised more than $114,000, funded the self-release of 2013's Bulldozer and Bubblegum, a historical move for the artist who over the years has been on indie labels as well as a major label, but has found the greatest success with the support of his fans. Bulldozer and Bubblegum received praise from the likes of NPR, "Rolling Stone," "Alternative Press" and many more. www.kevindevine.net
