Patrick Stewart will present specially selected items and costumes from the 20th Century Fox's blockbuster X-Men motion picture franchise to the National Museum of American History's entertainment collections. The items span the entire film series and include Stewart's Professor Xavier costume, Ian McKellen's Magneto costume, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine costume, Halle Berry's Storm costume and a final shooting script from the latest film in the series, X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Based on the Marvel Comics characters, the X-Men films revolve around a team of mutant superheroes who learn they can be heroes in the face of prejudices and stormy political times and that their powers can benefit humanity. These new objects will join other superhero artifacts in the collections such as Christopher Reeve's outfit from Superman III, Julie Newmar's Catwoman costume, the Batman cowl and mask created for Batman & Robin and a selection of Batman comic books.
