The Lacrosse Show with Paul Rabil and Paul Carcaterra will debut April 15 (7:00-8:00 pm ET) and air Tuesdays throughout the year, giving lacrosse fans a regular weekly source for the latest news and analysis of the game. Rabil, one of the world's best players, and Carcaterra, a former Syracuse star turned broadcaster, will take calls from lacrosse fans around the country and discuss the game's headline stories, training, recruiting news, equipment and more.
Over the next several weeks Rabil and Carcaterra will examine the country's best teams leading up to and during the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship, which begins May 7.
"As the sport continues to grow in popularity around the U.S., The Lacrosse Show will be an excellent source of news and information on the game led by two experts, in Paul Rabil and Paul Carcaterra, who know the sport inside and out," said Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM's President and Chief Content Officer. "Moreover, this show will serve as a year round forum for players of all ages, as well as parents and coaches, who can call in to discuss topics that are important to them - from training techniques to recruiting to the best lacrosse gear."
"I'm really looking forward to partnering with SiriusXM and heralded lacrosse analyst Paul Carcaterra to create the loudest vocal platform in lacrosse," said Rabil. "I'm confident that this won't be your typical 'sports' show. With our interests far beyond lacrosse, not only will we dissect the sport, but we'll talk about our business and lifestyle interests as well."
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to co-host a weekly lacrosse show on SiriusXM with Paul Rabil," said Carcaterra. "I have always had a great relationship with him and have a tremendous amount of respect for what he does on and off the field. Paul is an avid sports fan who has a strong grasp on the culture of sports from a player and fan standpoint. I am looking forward to exploring many different topics related to the game and making this show truly organic and interactive for all listeners."
Paul Rabil is one of the most accomplished lacrosse players in the history of the sport. He attended lacrosse powerhouse DeMatha Catholic High School where he was named a two-time All-American and the Washington Post's Player of the Year. He then went on to have an extraordinary career at Johns Hopkins University, a perennial national title contender. Rabil was recognized as an All-American all four years at Johns Hopkins and was a key contributor for the Blue Jays' 2005 and 2007 NCAA Championship-winning teams, as well as for the 2008 team that finished as runner-up. Rabil was awarded the 2007 McLaughlin Award, an honor given to the nation's most outstanding midfielder, and he finished his collegiate career as Johns Hopkins' all-time leading point scorer as a midfielder.
Since turning professional in 2008 Rabil has won Major League Lacrosse and National Lacrosse League Championships, was awarded two League MVP titles and three Offensive Player of the Year Awards, has been named to nine All-Star teams, and set the single season record for most points in Major League Lacrosse.
Paul Carcaterra was a four-year letterwinner in men's lacrosse at Syracuse University and captained the team in his senior year. Playing midfield, Carcaterra helped guide the Orange to the 1995 national title and was named a 1997 All-American. He was also a member of the New Jersey Pride, a former Major League Lacrosse team, and represented Team England in the World Lacrosse Games in 1998. He works as a game analyst, sideline reporter, and studio analyst for ESPN.
SiriusXM will broadcast the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Semifinals and Championship games live from Baltimore, MD, May 24-26. Live play-by-play of each matchup, plus pre- and post-match coverage, will air on SiriusXM College Sports Nation, channel 91. The game broadcasts will be provided to SiriusXM by WestwoodOne.
