Call For Entries Announced For The 20th Annual NAMIC Vision Awards
NEW YORK, Nov. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- NAMIC (National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications) in collaboration with NAMIC - Southern California is now accepting entries for the 2014 NAMIC Vision Awards. For nearly two decades, since the inception of the Vision Awards in 1994, NAMIC has honored the television industry's achievements in programming diversity. The 2014 NAMIC Vision Awards marks the 20(th) anniversary of the competition and its tradition of recognizing original, multi-platform programming depicting the lives, spirit and contributions of people of color and that best reflects the diversity of the global viewing audience. Qualified entries received by the Friday, January 10, 2014 submissions deadline will be eligible for consideration.

"The media and entertainment landscape is ever-changing with the content arena growing exponentially and consumers becoming increasingly diverse," said Alicin Williamson, principal, The Raben Group and interim executive leader of NAMIC. Original programs having aired from November 1, 2012 to November 10, 2013 are eligible for submission. Entries are being accepted in 18 award categories: Animation, Awards & Honors, Children's, Comedy, Documentary, Drama, Foreign Language, Lifestyle, News/Informational, Original Movie or Special, Reality, Reality-Social Issues, Sports, Variety/Talk Show, Best Performance - Comedy, Best Performance - Drama, Digital Media - Short Form and Digital Media - Long Form.
The NAMIC Vision Awards competition extends eligibility to:
-- Broadcast Networks (National, Network-Owned and Operated, Affiliates)
-- Cable Networks (National and Regional)
-- Cable Operators (Local Origination Programs)
-- Syndicators (First-Run Original Programs)
-- VOD (Cable and/or Broadcast Content for Digital Platforms Including
Web/Mobile)
Judging will be focused on overall imagery (creative merit, originality and presentation); sensitivity (the consideration given to cultural nuances); writing (the depiction of issues of relevant to people of color); and the quality of acting in the performance categories. A distinguished group of entertainment industry executives and content creators will comprise the judging panel. Nominations will be announced in early April 2014.
