Every record breaker knows there's someone waiting to seize their title.
MACOMB, Mich., Aug. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2012, Guinness World Records recognized Julian Pavone as the World's Youngest Professional Drummer®. This year, Pavone's record was broken; to view his usurper he simply needs to look in the mirror.
Pavone, 9, first snagged the title at the tender age of 5 years, 10 months and 3 days. Now the Michigan youngster has topped his own record thanks to evidence of Pavone performing a concert when he was 4 years, 10 months and 15 days old.
When asked how it felt to top himself, Pavone simply replied, "It feels world record-breaking good."
The drumming prodigy began hammering the skins at the age of three months, after his father, holding the infant on his lap, decided to put drumsticks into the curious tyke's hands. The rest is history. Now, Julian's first 9 years have had more packed into them than some people can even imagine to experience over several decades.
He cut a CD at the age of 20 months with legendary bassist Ralphe Armstrong, and has shown his remarkable talents on more than 300 television and news shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, the Emmys, documentaries, in books like "Sticks and Skins" and in more than 45,000 newspaper and magazine articles worldwide.
Pavone continues to work with and impress his musical peers. His drum teachers include Gregg Bissonette (Ringo Starr),George Dunn, Joe Leone and Dennis Sheridan -- plus he takes voice, acting, dance and piano lessons.
He plays his 22-piece custom drum set (which includes a double bass plus 17 cymbals) in his home studio, where he practices between 3 and 5 hours each day.
In addition to busting world records, Pavone picked up some hot endorsements at the recent National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) show in California, including one from Tycoon Percussion, who said: "he has already established himself within the drumming community - we love having Julian in our family".
Julian also befriended Bryan Hitt (REO Speedwagon drummer) at NAMM. It was through Bryan and Joe Vicari (owner of Freedom Hill Amphitheater) that Julian will have the opportunity to open for the legendary rock band this Sunday, August 17(th) at 7pm.
