First Festival? Here's Our Top Tips

Everyone has to experience their first festival at some point and knowing what you
need and what to take can be a mind field. However, SportsDIrect.com

[http://www.sportsdirect.com/camping/tents/festival-and-pop-up-tents ], camping equipment
and how to deal with the festival toilets!
First of all if you have been camping before and expect a festival to be like that
then you will be surprised. Unfortunately you cannot park near your car so will have to
carry your camping gear quite a distance and unless you have an early bird pass you may
have to pitch your tent in a cramped space. For these reasons alone it is best to pack
light and take a smaller tent if possible.
Pop-up and 2 man tents are perfect for festivals, with pop-up tents taking mere
minutes to put up, so you can start to enjoy the festival straight away! If there is a big
group of you going then one large tent, opposed to three or four smaller ones, means you
will save on space and you are guaranteed to camp together.
Bearing in mind the distance that you will have to carry your camping equipment it is
not always ideal to take airbeds, however a rug or sleeping mat can easily be folded (or
squashed) into your rucksack to provide you with slight padding. For this reason it is a
good idea to spend a bit more on your sleeping bag to ensure that you are warm and that it
is padded.
As most people are aware when it comes to festivals there aren't many showers and
after the first day they are known to get quite dingy - unless you're fortunate enough to
stay in one of the luxury camping sites. Therefore, it is advised that you take dry
shampoo, plenty of baby wipes, face wipes and mouth wash! Although the portable loos do
have hand wash and toilet roll they do run out and are not always replaced swiftly, plus
you can never be too prepared when it comes to hygiene!
Finally, a rucksack is the ideal luggage to carry all of your essential camping items.
Not only do they offer plenty of space but most also have cords where you can attach your
sleeping bag or tent for ease of transportation.
