Jeff Brogan Appointed GM of WCPO
CINCINNATI, April 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Jeff Brogan, a television executive dedicated to local news strategy, has been appointed vice president and general manager of WCPO, the ABC affiliate in Cincinnati that has been owned and operated by The E.W. Scripps Company (NYSE: SSP) since 1949.
Brogan, 36, began his television news career in his hometown of Cincinnati at WXIX. He moved to Scripps-owned WCPO in 2000 as a newscast producer. He was promoted to executive producer in 2004 and became WCPO's assistant news director in 2008.
Brogan was promoted to news director of Scripps-owned WPTV in West Palm Beach, Fla., in 2010, overseeing the news operations of Florida's highest-rated TV station. In 2012, Scripps moved Brogan into a corporate role that oversees news strategy at several of its stations.
"WCPO has a long history of agenda-setting journalism that serves the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky community," said Brian Lawlor, senior vice president of the Scripps television division. "As a seasoned media executive who values creative storytelling and impactful journalism, Jeff will now have the opportunity to work in his hometown to help define the role of a local media organization in this new digital era."
Brogan has been interim general manager since January. He replaces Steve Thaxton, who left in December after leading the station since March 2011.
Brogan is a graduate of Elder High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton.
