Huntington Beach Prepares To Go From "Zero To 100" On April 20th
ASP World Tour Surfer Lakey Peterson Takes Audiences on an Epic Journey into the Future of Women's Surfing!
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., April 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Saturday, April 20th marks the international release of Lakey Peterson's groundbreaking film Zero to 100. In conjunction with the film's release, Bella Terra and Hurley are hosting a Premiere in Huntington Beach with proceeds from the evening benefiting the Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC Children's. Music and a marketplace will commence onsite at Bella Terra at 5pm, featuring local Orange County band Hindu Pirates followed by R&B artist Antoine Allain. The official screening of Zero to 100 will begin promptly at 6:45pm at Century Theatres. A VIP area at Cheesecake Factory will host special guests including top surfers from the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP), sponsors and media.
Zero to 100 chronicles the rapid rise of one of the sports most talented and progressive female surfers. An ASP World Tour surfer and 2012 US Open champion, Lakey provides viewers with an intimate, raw and ultimately inspiring window into her life and the future of women's surfing. Boasting incredible cinematography, and a masterfully compiled soundtrack that further amplifies the film's messages, Zero to 100 offers audiences much more than great waves and surfing.
Interviews with her coach/surf legend Mike Parsons, family members and fellow surfers including Stephanie Gilmore, Sage Erickson, Kolohe Andino and Bethany Hamilton help to shed more light on this 18-year-old prodigy. When asked what she hopes people will take away from the film, Peterson replied, "There are so many messages in the film and hopefully everyone can relate to it and be inspired on some level. At the end of the day it is simply a journey about being the best you can, about not letting other people define who you are, and not being afraid to take risks to reach your dreams."
Filmmaker Aaron Lieber spent one year on the road with Peterson during her rookie year, filming the many competition lows and ending with her epic finish as US Open champion at Huntington Beach last August. "It really could not have ended any better if I scripted it myself" said Lieber. "I believed in Lakey and took a risk dedicating a year to this project, but in the end the risk paid off." When asked about his stance on female surfing Lieber laughed, "If you've been watching the world tour this year, I think it is clear to most that the gap between men and women is closing fast and it's an exciting frontier to document for sure."
Zero to 100 will screen at Bella Terra on Saturday April 20th. The event starts at 5pm with live music and action onsite, including the opportunity to meet Lakey Peterson and other ASP surfers. The film will commence at 6:45pm and is expected to sell out. Tickets are only $10 and can be purchased ahead of time at TicketBud.com. The film has been accepted at multiple festivals internationally and in the USA and begins touring and screening publicly in May. Details on dates can be found on the film's official webpage at http://lakeypeterson.com/zeroto100. Zero to 100 will be available on iTunes and DVD on April 20th.
