Golden Dumpster Awards to Honor 30 Rock, Focus Features, Big Beach Films for sustainable practices

NYC's Film Biz Recycling celebrates five years with recognition of green media innovation and action in filmmaking

NEW YORK, April 22, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Saturday May 11(th), New York's Film Biz Recycling (FBR) and 200 guests will recognize winners of the First Annual Golden Dumpster Awards, being held @ 8:00 p.m. at Windfall, located at 23 West 39(th) Street in Manhattan. The event is free for members of the film industry, media, and press event, but RSVPs (at the link below) are strongly recommended.

The night's honorees for sustainable practices include: NBC's 30 Rock, for Most Tonnage From a TV Show, i.e., set dressing, props and wardrobe tonnage from a TV series not in a dumpster, but instead donated for public good, weighing in at 10.74 tons; and NBCUniversal-owned film company Focus Features, for Most Tonnage from a Feature Production Company, for diverting 33.68 tons cumulatively since 2008 on movies such as Admission, It's Kind of a Funny Story, and Taking Woodstock.

The Roll of the Dice Award will be presented to Big Beach (Our Idiot Brother, Safety Not Guaranteed, Little Miss Sunshine) in recognition of hiring an Eco-Manager on Gods Behaving Badly. Big Beach values green filmmaking and has practiced sustainability measures on several productions, notably participating in a sustainability pilot project lead by Earthmark/Green Media Solutions during the filming, with Focus Features, of Away We Go.

Other honorees include HIS Productions, Materials for the Arts, Canal Creatures, Brite Shot, and Green Product Placement and local Location Scout Ko Nizuma for his Super Storm Sandy relief efforts.
