WXYZ Announces Second Annual Detroit 2020 Awards
Honoring those making a difference in Metro Detroit
SOUTHFIELD Mich., Feb. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- WXYZ-TV is pleased to announce the second annual Detroit 2020 Awards. The awards will honor those that embody Detroit 2020's motto of Unify. Inspire. Act.

Viewers can nominate people or organizations by going to Detroit2020.com. Deadline for entries is February 25, 2013.
Three awards will be given out:
-- A "Unify" award, which will honor an individual or organization that has
worked to bring the community and people closer together in 2012.
-- An "Inspire" award, which will honor an individual or organization that
has worked to motivate the community to accomplish great things in 2012.
-- An "Act" award, which will honor an individual or organization that has
made a demonstrable impact and made a difference in 2012.
"There is amazing work being done in our community, and WXYZ is proud to recognize the dedication of those striving to make a difference in our communities," said E. W. Scripps divisional general manager, and WXYZ vice-president and general manager, Ed Fernandez.
The Detroit 2020 Awards ceremony will be held in April of 2013. Winners will receive a cash award from the Scripps Howard Foundation to help further their efforts.
Nominations must be received by 11:59 pm on 2/25/2013. Nominations will be accepted for 501(c)(3) non-profit entities or individuals that work with a 501(c)(3) only. All award decisions are made at the sole discretion of Scripps Media, Inc.
Individuals or organizations nominated must provide service in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, Washtenaw, Monroe, St. Clair, Lapeer or Sanilac county.
Last year's award winners were Toni McIlwain, president and CEO of the Ravendale Community Organization ("Unify" award); The Front Porch ("Inspire" award), and Motor City Blight Busters ("Act" award).
