Two Charitable Ohio Artists Call for Votes in Two Categories before September 21st Event

CLEVELAND, Aug. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- It is difficult for them to even remember when they were strangers, but that's exactly what Ohio's own DJ $crilla and Lauren Lanzaretta were to each other only two years ago. Today, they are nominated for two Ohio Hip Hop Awards for their collaborative work together. The humble pair couldn't be more excited for this recognition. Fans have made their album "Color of Love" successful and can now vote online to get these artists the Ohio Hip Hop Awards for Best Album of the Year as well as the Best Video of the Year.

Earlier this year, versatile rapper, DJ $crilla and soulful singer, Lauren Lanzaretta released "Color of Love," their first joint album together. The seven-song EP captures the musical talents of the artists in an elemental fusion of hip-hop, soul and pop. $crilla's energetic rhymes come together with Lanzaretta's poignant sound to create a compelling and rhythmic journey through the highs and lows of the heart.

Proving even further that the artists bring out the best in each other, they opted against charging for downloads of the "Color of Love" album. Instead, fans were asked to donate to the local Cleveland charity, Guidestone (formerly Berea Children's Home and Family Services). $crilla and Lanzaretta continue to bring awareness and donations to the foundation, which is dedicated to helping local children and families in need.

The Ohio Hip Hop Awards' nominations make the collaboration that much more successful. "We feel very blessed to have been nominated for two Ohio Hip Hop Awards this year. Doing positive things will yield positive results," said DJ $crilla.

This is Lauren Lanzaretta's first Ohio Hip Hop Awards nomination, and the fourth for DJ $crilla, who won in the Best Album category for "Me, Myself, and I" in 2009.
