Somebody Actually Remade Who Let the Dogs Out?

Multi-Platinum, Grammy Award-Winning Song's Remake Has 375,000 downloads in 72 hours

DANVILLE, Va., July 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Landing a Grammy Award for best dance song and crowned by Rolling Stone as the third most annoying song of all-time, "Who Let The Dogs Out?" has been featured everywhere from "The Hangover" movie to Las Vegas slot machines. Now, twelve years after it blasted across the universe from Trinidad to America, "Who Let the Dogs Out?" is shattering all expectations and getting a second life in a new cover version by the pop duo Karate Stylez, being released to radio on July 25, 2012. The limited, pre-release online preview of the song at KarateStylez.com and partner sites already attracted over 375,000 downloads in 72 hours from 30 different countries.

The pop makeover comes from the dynamic duo of former Sean "Diddy" Combs protege, King James II and Wingspan Records CEO, Scott Brooks, the powerhouse behind the original American release of the song. Fans of the Baha Men version, who discovered the song on the soundtrack of the runaway hit movie Rugrats, receive this new infectious electronic pop version as they enter the college-age.

The song has an exciting history. The songwriters were originally from Trinidad and lived in Toronto. The song was published by Virginia-based Wingspan Records in 2000. The original song was the subject of an international multi-jurisdictional lawsuit in which Wingspan Records emerged as an advocate for songwriters and a defender of their rights. The enigmatic founder and CEO of Wingspan Records, Scott Brooks, says, "'Who Let the Dogs Out?' has long been under-rated and under-appreciated. People are now finding out that the song is timeless."

Karate Stylez is a multi-ethnic pop duo based on the East Coast. Known for prolific songwriting, they have been involved in a dozen platinum and Billboard Magazine charting records and worked with such artists as Prince, Jay-Z, Diddy, Keyisha Coles, and Notorious B.I.G. They are currently organizing a tour to support the release of Who Let the Dogs Out and the accompanying album Infected.
