LOS ANGELES, July 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Following its huge opening in Houston last week which produced the highest per screen average of any film in the nation, 2016: Obama's America, was screened at the Harmony Gold Theater on Sunset Boulevard last night to a packed house., followed by a Q&A time with producer Gerald Molen (Schindler's List, Jurassic Park) and producer/writer Dinesh D'Souza. The event was emceed by famed publicist and author Michael Levine and included special guests like actress Dyan Canon, actor and writer Ben Stein and the producer of Braveheart, Steve Mceveteey.
The film will open nationwide on Friday, July 27.
2016: Obama's America is an in-depth look at President Barack Obama's background, where he is from and what he believes and was filmed on four continents and features on-camera interviews with those who knew President Obama, including his destitute half-brother George Obama in Kenya and Philip Ochieng, the best friend of Barack Obama, Sr.
A very special guest attended the L.A. screening: Philip Ochieng's daughter, Juliette Ochieng who was separated from her father at the age of two when he returned to Kenya and "saw" her father for the first time on the big screen last night.
Following the screening, producers Gerald R. Molen and Dinesh D'Souza took questions from the audience. Gerald Molen received the Best Picture Academy Award for Schindler's List and D'Souza's book The Roots ofObama's Rage and Obama's America served as the basis for the film.
Demand for the film continues to grow from major cities and small towns alike and producer Doug Sain promises that the filmmakers will make every effort to meet demand: "We're often asked if the film will be coming to my local theater," remarked Doug. "The answer is: sure. It's all about demand. Although we are only scheduled to be in around 400 theaters that can quickly change as theater owners hear from the public who want to see a film. We'll be in as many theaters as the people want us to be in."
"Love him or hate him, you don't know him." 2016: Obama's America is the definitive account of how one man's past could redefine a nation and where we will be in 2016 if Obama remains in the White House.
