AGLIFF Nonprofit Organization Celebrates 25th Anniversary Year Film Festival Program Season

AUSTIN, Texas, June 21, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AGLIFF (Austin Gay & Lesbian International Film Festival) is excited to celebrate a golden milestone in the Austin community with its 25th anniversary year. Providing another year of engaging LGBTQIA content, AGLIFF Nonprofit Organization is in full production mode for the 2012 season taking place October 3-7, 2012.

Based on AGLIFF's history of "talking" to the LGBTQIA community through film, this year's festival will take a retrospective look at our last 25 years, while also moving forward to the future to enhance our communities through innovative and cutting-edge programs and cinematic experiences.

Lindsay Muse, AGLIFF Executive Director, announces, "We're planning to bring together an amazing anniversary year event. We are connecting with past and future participants and partners to expand our educational impact on society as we move forward to inspire generations to come. Stay tuned to www.agliff.org for exciting new details for the 2012 Season."

"AGLIFF is dedicated to broadening its programming to entertain and engage all the members of the LGBTQIA communities in Austin and beyond. After viewing this year's outstanding submissions, it is clear that AGLIFF's 2012 festival will be more dynamic and inclusive than ever," says Curran Nault, AGLIFF's Film Programming Director.

New for 2012, AGLIFF's headquarters and film screenings will be based in downtown Austin, with a more robust line up of film programming, educational panels, networking events and resources for LGBTQIA filmmakers, film enthusiasts and those seeking LGBTQIA awareness.

AGLIFF is also relocating offices into the ASoF (Austin School of Film) building, close to the hub of downtown Austin. ASoF Organization, www.austinfilmschool.org is one of AGLIFF's vital community partners for educational Queer Youth Media Project for at-risk youth. AGLIFF and ASoF, as new neighbors, plan to increase their synergy by expanding community-building programs together.

In addition, AGLIFF and AIDS Services of Austin will partner for the BIG LOVE: ASA + AGLIFF Joint 25th Anniversary Fundraiser to benefit both organizations through an evening of film programming and celebration. Stay tuned to www.agliff.org for more information. This powerful event will honor the progress we've made in 25 years. We will ignite our passion to continue to improve the lives of those affected by HIV and the battle for equality for LGBTQIA individuals and families through a celebration and a discussion of film.

AGLIFF's Film Festival Program is currently open for film submissions through June 29, 2012. Enter for a chance to debut your film in front of one of the largest and longest running LGBTQIA Film Festivals of its kind in the Southwest.
