BAND TO PERFORM AT HOLLYWOOD'S VIPER ROOM ON FEBRUARY 22ND FOLLOWED BY SXSW
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Having released three independent EPs and making a name for themselves on the West Coast live circuit, IMAGINE DRAGONS have announced that they will release their debut EP for KIDintheKORNER/ Interscope Records, entitled Continued Silence, today, February 14th. To celebrate, the band will perform at the Viper Room in Hollywood on February 22nd followed by dates at SXSW Music Festival. When they performed at the same LA club in July 2010, the L.A. Weekly raved: "Last night Imagine Dragons took the Viper Room by storm with their arena-worthy anthems."
"Continued Silence contains our sorrows, our fears, our hopes, and our stories in every song," says lead singer Dan Reynolds. "After three previous EP's, we are so excited for our fans to continue this amazing journey with us."
The songs on Continued Silence are just a taste of what's to come from IMAGINE DRAGONS, who combine their synth-laden rock sound with the hip-hop sensibilities of producer, Alex Da Kid (Eminem, Rihanna). The alchemy that results when these creative forces get together is nothing short of explosive.
Hailing from Las Vegas, the quartet harnessed the restless energy of "the city that never sleeps" with two EP's in 2009 -- Imagine Dragons and Hell and Silence -- earning a string of local accolades, including becoming the "Most Requested Band of 2010" on LOCAL 107.9, being chosen as a Vegas Music Summit Headliner, being voted "Best Local Indie Band 2010" by Las Vegas Weekly, and being awarded "Best CD of 2011" by Vegas Seven magazine. In 2010, they released their third independent EP It's Time. "It's Time" is the first single from Continued Silence and is available now as a free download by visiting www.facebook.com/imaginedragons.
Augmenting their studio recordings, IMAGINE DRAGONS -- which is Reynolds, Wayne Sermon (guitar) Ben McKee (bass), Daniel Platzman (drums) -- have brought their epic, larger-than-life live show to stages across the country, making new fans wherever they play, from headlining clubs to opening for such indie notables as Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Hot Chip, Nico Vega (whom they toured with in Fall 2010), and The Temper Trap, as well as for such major acts as Weezer, and Interpol. They have also played a variety of festivals, including SXSW, Neon Reverb, Fork Festival, New Noise Music Festival, Sunset Strip Music Festival, and Bite of Las Vegas Festival.
Serious about the craft of songwriting, Reynolds and Sermon (a Berklee College of Music attendee and gearhead who grew up in a recording studio) met in college in Utah and later joined up with McKee, a friend of Sermon's from Berklee who dropped out, with one semester left, to join Reynolds and Sermon at their new home base of Las Vegas. IMAGINE DRAGONS are currently based in Los Angeles, where they met fellow Berklee alumni Platzman. Recently signed by Alex Da Kid to his label KIDinaKORNER /Interscope Records, the band is now working on tracks for their debut album..
