26 North Yachts Publishes Worldwide Exclusive Podcast Interview with Horizon Yachts

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- 26North Yachts has announced a worldwide exclusive podcast interview with Horizon Yachts, covering recent sales into China and the development of the Horizon 110 which looks set to challenge the popular Westport 112 and Hargrave 110 in the United States.

The audio podcast features an exclusive interview with Roger Sowerbutts, a product evangelist. He is based on the East Coast, U.S. for Horizon Yachts.

Horizon recently sold a Horizon 110 & 120 into China respectively. China currently accounts for 2% of their worldwide sales. Over the next 12 years it predicts at least another 4 sales into the rising Asian superpower.

"The infrastructure in China is very light as far as them being able to take boats of that size and use them in the way that they should be used. However, we certainly hope that this trend will continue," said Mr. Sowerbutts.

Australia is slowly making its presence felt as a major new buying destination for Horizon, pushed by a strong Aussie dollar and dampened sales in the U.S. and Europe.

Existing Horizon Yacht owners in Australia appear to be upgrading to larger vessels as they benefit from a stronger economy.

"We have been focused on the European market for a while because that is where the (smaller) boats are selling. Our market in U.S. tends to be more 76 and above. That's where we really see the most interest," said Mr. Sowerbutts.

The interview hinted that the upcoming release of the Horizon 110 may spark interest in the United States, which has traditionally favored models such as the Westport 112, Hargrave 110 and Lazzara 110.

The interview confirmed a relentless drive by Horizon to release new models, even as rivals downsize and others such as Lazzara, use new capital cash injections to focus on developing smaller, entry-level luxury yachts.
