Heritage Rock Station 103.7 WMGM Celebrates 50 Years with Relaunch as South Jersey's Best Rock
Broadcasting on the region's biggest signal, WMGM to be the first station in the market to offer the best rock hits all on one station
LINWOOD, N.J., Aug. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, South Jersey's preeminent heritage rock station, 103.7 WMGM-FM, owned and operated by Longport Media, LLC, relaunched today as WMGM Rocks -- South Jersey's Home For The Best Rock -- with a refined format of the greatest rock music, an all-star roster of seasoned on-air talent and a new lineup of live programming, company officials announced today.
Broadcasting on 50,000-watts of power, 24-hours a day, 103.7 WMGM boasts the region's biggest signal, reaching listeners beyond the southern Jersey Shore all the way south to Delaware North, as far north as Ocean County and as far west as Cumberland and Camden Counties.
"WMGM has defined rock for this region for more than two decades, and our heritage call letters are something we are very proud of," said Dave Coskey, president of Longport Media, LLC. "The evolution of 103.7 will allow us to further position WMGM as the premier station for rock n' roll in South Jersey, and all our coverage areas. WMGM Rocks will be the destination for the best rock on the biggest signal in southern New Jersey."
WMGM's revamped playlist will include the legendary classic rock by Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones, in addition to today's rock hits by artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers , The Dave Matthews Band and Foo Fighters to name a few.
"WMGM will be the first and only station in our market to play the best classic rock and the best of today's rock all on one station," explains Paul Kelly, director of operations for Longport Media, LLC.
In addition to WMGM's refined music format, the station will debut a new schedule of programming that's both live and local throughout the week.
The revamped schedule will mark the highly-anticipated return of the popular morning-drive program The Morning Edge with JoJo & Scotty, Mondays through Fridays from 6 AM till 10 AM. Best known for being provocative, unpredictable and above all, funny, JoJo Borsello and Scotty Reilly will host an interactive show that invites local listeners to participate in the daily happenings of the day, whether they are in-studio or live on location.
A voice synonymous with rock music in South Jersey -- Sean Patrick -- takes listeners into the midday hours from 10 AM to 3 PM. Patrick is a 12 year area radio veteran, known for his extensive knowledge of rock music, and brings a myriad of experience both behind the microphone and as a programmer to WMGM.
One of New Jersey's notable radio personalities -- Matt Murray -- makes his Atlantic City debut during weekday afternoon drive from 3 PM to 7 PM. A broadcaster for over 15 years, Murray brings a wealth of experience to WMGM as a deejay at New Jersey stations like WHTG (G-Rock) in the Monmouth/Ocean market and WDHA in Morristown.
Rounding out the day is Nikki Marra in the 7 PM to Midnight time slot. Bringing experience as a segment producer, production director and on-air talent -- both in the States and abroad -- Marra has worked at stations WOR Newsradio 710 in New York City; and stations WPHT AM1210, WOGL 98.1 and WYSP 94.1 in Philadelphia.
