Network More Than Doubles Number of Telecasts From Last Year
Xfinity High School Sports Schedule Kicks Off on September 1 with Folsom at Grant in Sacramento
LIVERMORE, Calif., Aug. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Hometown Network (CHN), Comcast's regional cable network covering Northern and Central California, today announced that it will televise 23 high school football games as part of its ever-expanding Comcast Hometown Sports (CHS) programming (see complete schedule below). The games, appearing under the banner of "Xfinity High School Sports," will be available on Channel 104 to all Comcast digital cable customers throughout Northern and Central California. The telecasts kick off on Thursday, September 1st at 7:00 p.m. with 2008 State Champion Grant High School of Sacramento (#22 Max Preps State Ranking) hosting 2010 State Champion Folsom High School (#29 Max Preps State Ranking).

The play-by-play announcer for Comcast Hometown Network's Saturday high school football games will be Dan Dibley of The Rise Guys Show on 95.7 FM--The Game, while the play-by-play announcer for Wednesday's high school football games will be UC Berkeley commentator Todd McKim. San Jose SaberCats head coach Darren Arbet and UC Davis football radio announcer Scott Gordon will split the color analyst duties. Myriah Johnson of CHN's Upside program will serve as sideline reporter.
The "Xfinity High School Sports" prep contests will premiere on Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104), and will be replayed several times. In addition, all games will also be available any time of the day or night via Comcast's popular ON DEMAND platform, which is free to Comcast digital customers. To view Comcast Hometown Network games ON DEMAND, Comcast Digital Cable customers can tune to Channel 1 on their Digital Cable lineup or press the ON DEMAND button on their remote control, then click on the "Get Local" section, then click on "Sports," and select"High School Sports" and then "Football."
In addition to Grant (Sacramento) and Folsom, CHN's high school football schedule features many of the top prep teams in Northern and Central California, including prominent Bay Area powers De La Salle (#2 Max Preps State Ranking), Valley Christian (#8 Max Preps State Ranking), Bellarmine (#20 Max Preps State Ranking) and California (#30 Max Preps State Ranking); as well as traditionally strong teams such as Pleasant Grove (#13 Max Preps State Ranking) from the Sacramento region plus Clovis West (#27 Max Preps State Ranking) from the Fresno area.
Comcast Hometown Network www.comcasthometown.com continues to be one of the top destinations for local sports coverage. The network is in its third season of airing LIVE minor league baseball games -- this year televising 44 games from the California League and the Pacific Coast League, featuring the San Jose Giants, Stockton Ports, Modesto Nuts, Visalia Rawhide and the Fresno Grizzlies. In addition, CHN also televises key high school basketball matchups featuring prominent prep programs throughout Northern and Central California. Comcast Hometown Network has also televised San Jose SaberCats games from the Arena Football League, Stockton Thunder ECHL hockey contests, and Western Athletic Conference (WAC) football and basketball games.
