LOS ANGELES, July 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Music Group (UMG), the world's leading music company, has promoted Saheli Datta to Senior Vice President of Ethics, Compliance & Employment Counsel. The announcement was made today by Jeff Harleston, General Counsel & Executive Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs, North America, to whom Ms. Datta reports. Formerly, Ms. Datta served as Vice President of Ethics, Compliance & Employment Counsel.

Based in UMG's Los Angeles headquarters, Ms. Datta oversees all legal matters related to employees including employee relations, employment contracts as well as compliance matters for all UMG divisions in the United States, Canada and Mexico. She works closely with Universal Music Group Distribution, Universal Music Publishing and all of the company's recording labels. Ms. Datta joined the company in 2000 as Senior Director and rose to VP in 2006. Prior to this, she served as employment counsel in the law firm of Morrison & Foerster.
