EARTH WIND and FIRE to Headline Cox Charities 2nd Annual Benefit Concert to be held Fri., Sept. 16 at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk

Nearly $200,000 in grants provided to youth groups in VA since 2009 Cox Charities launch

CHESAPEAKE, Va., July 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Charities, the charitable giving initiative of Cox Communications, will host its 2nd Annual Benefit Concert on Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Chrysler Hall in Norfolk. The concert will feature adult contemporary artists Earth Wind and Fire. Show time is 8 p.m.

Proceeds from the concert will fund competitive grants from Cox Charities to deserving local non-profits. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on July 22nd via www.ticketmaster.com.

"Since the launch of Cox Charities in 2009, we have been able to provide nearly $200,000 in grants to terrific non-profits in Virginia. The programs provided by these organizations range from youth mentoring services, to academic services for low-income and at-risk youth, to early childhood education initiatives," said Gary McCollum, Senior Vice President and General Manager Cox Virginia. Mr. McCollum added, "This benefit concert will provide support for even more educational programs and will help other groups continue to make a significant difference in the lives of young people."
