Best Film in Austin, TX of the 48 Hour Film Project is Announced

AUSTIN, Texas, July 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- "No Record" by Invenio Productions won the Best Film Prize in this year's 48 Hour Film Project in Austin. They were also presented with Audience Favorite, Best Sound Design and Best Special Effects awards. The 48 Hour Film Project is the oldest and largest timed film competition in the world. Teams receive a genre, character, prop and line of dialogue at 7PM on a Friday night and must complete the film by Sunday at 7:30PM, with no exceptions.

Invenio Productions is an ambitious group of 80 volunteers who are passionate about filmmaking. Among the largest to compete in the competition, Invenio Productions challenge themselves to run a flexible and creative, yet professional set. "With such a large team, we have to organize as much as possible. We start working early to assign everyone a job within their skill-set, planning meals to keep everyone happy and creating lines of communication," said Megan Edwards, Production Manager. "There are always things we can improve on, but everyone has such a great time, it's addicting. We are glad we won, but we can't wait until the next film."

The production team gets their name from the Latin word which means to "come upon, find and discover." "This is our approach to the creative process," said the Director, Scott Edwards. "We believe when we get a really good idea, it's as if it was already there just waiting to be told, and we were the ones who discovered it. We also hope that Invenio Productions is a way for us to be discovered as filmmakers." When asked what's next for the team, Edwards said, "People have responded so well to our story that we've started preparing to make our first full-length film. We will be looking at Austin as a possible location for shooting, and if all goes as planned, we should begin filming sometime in 2012."

The 2011 competition was Invenio Productions' second year in the contest and second year to win the Audience Favorite award. "No Record" will go on to compete with other 48 Hour Films from around the world at Filmapalooza in New Mexico. If it wins Filmapalooza, then it will go on to the Cannes Film Festival in France.
