8th Continent Soymilk Announces Winners of "Nice Job, Mom: We Rock" Campaign to Benefit Music Education
SANTA ANA, Calif., July 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Stremicks Heritage Foods, makers of 8th Continent Soymilk, has announced the winners of its "Nice Job Mom: We Rock" campaign which honored moms who keep their families' health and happiness in perfect harmony. Grammy-nominated singer songwriter Sara Bareilles served as the face of the promotion, which helped spark an advancement in music education in local schools.
The contest invited mothers across the U.S. to submit the tips and tricks that make them rock star moms. Winners were determined by company representatives and by the public, who voted for the entries online at www.8thcontinent.com/werock.
The winners are Sandy Nevels of Fremont, Calif., Marybeth Mank of Mesquite, Texas, Debra Baron of Needham, Mass., Jillian Cupps of Orlando, Florida and Joanie Atwater of Orem, Utah.
-- Grand prize winner Nevels' tip was to involve kids in a healthy
lifestyle by exercising daily, visiting farmers markets, growing a
garden and preparing and cooking meals together.
-- Mank suggested that moms "allow kids to make their own decisions, within
reason."
-- Baron advised moms to remember how you wanted to be treated as a kid and
remove the "conversational filter" so no topic is ever off limits.
-- Cupps shared this trick for moms who want to look good and be practical:
Trade dresses for events with friends.
-- Atwater's music education begins at home: She creates music videos with
her kids that they can enjoy now and laugh at later.
Nevels won a trip to Los Angeles, where she and a friend will enjoy VIP treatment, including a meet and greet with Bareilles. The company will also recognize all five winners by donating - in each of their names- $10,000 earmarked for music education at a school of their choosing - for a total of $50,000. Checks will be presented to each school this fall by Bareilles.
"As a family-owned and operated brand, we applaud those moms who top the charts when it comes to making life healthier and happier for their own families," said Sam Stremick, VP, Sales and Marketing for 8th Continent Soymilk. "Giving back to the communities we serve is one of our core principles. Because many schools face constrained resources, especially for music education, the "Nice Job, Mom: We Rock" campaign is particularly rewarding, as it allows us to celebrate moms' contributions and provide much-needed funds to support local school music programs."
