Verizon Adds Three More Spanish-Language Channels to FiOS TV Lineup
Television Dominicana, Supercanal and VeneMovies Join FiOS TV's Spanish-Language and La Conexion Packages
NEW YORK, Jan. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Just one month after adding new programming to Verizon FiOS TV's Spanish-language offering, the company is once again expanding its Spanish-language content offering with the launch of three new channels: Television Dominicana, Supercanal and VeneMovies. FiOS TV's extensive Spanish-language channel lineup now includes 34 of the most popular channels available.
"We're excited to be able to add three more Spanish-language channels to our growing FiOS TV lineup," said Terry Denson, vice president of content strategy and acquisition for Verizon. "This latest enhancement to our multicultural offering means even more programming for our Spanish-speaking customers in their native language."
The three channels have already launched in FiOS TV's markets in Texas, California, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Philadelphia, and will be in all FiOS TV markets by the end of the month. The new channels offer:
-- Television Dominicana (FiOS TV Channel 1506) -- the best productions of
the Dominican Republic, featuring the most renowned talent in variety,
comedy and entertainment. The programming targets the 3 million
Dominicans who reside permanently in the United States and are
interested in watching the best shows from their country.
-- Supercanal (FiOS TV Channel 1507) -- unique Dominican and Pan-Caribbean
programming including sports, news, politics, comedy, live music,
special events and family content. The channel is the Dominican
Republic's official broadcaster of boxing, and also features a daily
talk show, weekend programs for kids, daily news and talk shows, and
more.
-- VeneMovies (FiOS TV Channel 1682) -- a 24-hour, commercial-free,
U.S.-based Spanish-language film channel with award-winning movies
originally produced in Spanish and featuring a wide diversity of genres
from Latin America and Spain as well as film events and
behind-the-scenes looks at various films.
The three new channels join last month's additions of Ritmoson Latino, Bandamax and TyC Sports in FiOS TV's Spanish-language and La Conexion packages. The Spanish-Language package offers some of the most popular Spanish-language channels available - including Galavision, ESPN Deportes and CNN en Espanol - for $11.99 per month. Verizon's La Conexion package offers the best in Spanish- and English-language programming, with more than 125 channels, including all Spanish-language channels, up to 14 HD channels and more than 54 of the most popular channels in English. La Conexion is available separately for $54.99 per month, or in a bundled package with FiOS Internet and voice service.
FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming, featuring more than 520 all-digital channels including up to 140 HD channels and 18,000 monthly video-on-demand titles. FiOS also provides next-generation interactive services including an advanced interactive media guide; social networking, news and entertainment widgets; remote DVR management via broadband or cell phone; and more.
