United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Applauds FCC's Approval of Comcast and NBC Universal Merger
WASHINGTON, Jan. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) today applauds the efforts of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in approving the merger of Comcast and NBC Universal (NBCU). The USHCC represents more than 200 local Hispanic chambers and serves as the national advocate for nearly three million Hispanic-owned businesses in our country.
"We are delighted by the FCC's approval of the Comcast-NBC Universal merger and look forward to the future of this partnership," says Javier Palomarez, President and CEO of the USHCC. "The USHCC specifically recognizes the leadership of FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn in making this transaction one that will benefit the entire Hispanic community and all diverse communities."
"The USHCC called for the FCC's expeditious approval of the merger in an effort to increase Hispanic programming. We are confident that Comcast and NBCU will work closely with the USHCC as a responsible corporate partner to fill the void in Hispanic programming as we all work to increase the presence of Hispanics both in front of and behind the cameras, and to diversify the Comcast Board of Directors over the next two years," says Palomarez.
"While Comcast has successfully worked with Hispanic-owned businesses, they have committed to finding new ways to increase the diversity of their suppliers and we are dedicated to working with Comcast/NBCU in identifying procurement opportunities for Hispanic-owned businesses," says Nina Vaca-Humrichouse, USHCC Board Chairman.
