Metro Parent Magazine and WDET Present Spirituality and Parenting...a Conversation on Wisdom and Learning for the Modern Family, Tuesday, February 15th at the Birmingham Community House
DETROIT, Jan. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Metro Parent Magazine and WDET are proud to present Spirituality and Parenting...a Conversation on Wisdom and Learning for the Modern Family featuring Sylvia Boorstein at The Birmingham Community House, February 15, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Krista Tippett, author of Speaking of Faith and Einstein's God and host of On Being, a radio program based on the questions of humanity and ancient traditions of the human spirit, will be leading a discussion with Sylvia Boorstein, author of Happiness Is an Inside Job.
As Tippett spoke of during her program about the Spirituality of Parenting, more and more people are disconnected from religious institutions, at least for part of their lives. Others are religious and find themselves creating a family with a spouse who practices different traditions or who have no tradition at all. The experience of parenting tends to raise spiritual questions anew. We sense that there is a spiritual aspect to our children's natures and wonder how to support and nurture their needs. Children need our questions as much as our answers. These subjects and more will be discussed during Spirituality and Parenting... a Conversation on Wisdom and Learning for the Modern Family featuring Sylvia Boorstein.
Sylvia Boorstein brings together Jewish tradition and thought with a lifelong Buddhist practice. She is a co-founder of the Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California. Her work is informed by her years as a teacher of mindfulness meditation and her experience as a parent.
