Deal Leverages Premier Membership, Provides Children's Hospitals With Comprehensive Education and Patient Satisfaction Solution

SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Dec. 20, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- LodgeNet Healthcare, the leader in interactive patient television, and MDM Healthcare, the country's largest distributor of healthcare televisions, today announced an agreement with Child Health Corporation of America (CHCA). CHCA represents over 40 leading children's hospitals in North America. Under the agreement, participating CHCA owner hospitals will be offered LodgeNet Healthcare's eSuite(TM) interactive television solutions, which deliver comprehensive education and patient satisfaction solutions at a low total cost of ownership.

eSuite delivers education efficiently to the patient room with the goal of improving outcomes and the overall patient care experience. In partnership with MDM Healthcare, the turn-key television solution has proven to be extremely reliable and easy to use. "This arrangement with LodgeNet and MDM gives our hospital members the chance to make a real difference in care delivery while managing costs," said Don Slater, Director, Clinical Capital and IT Products for CHCA. "We think the benefits to our patients and their families will be significant, and LodgeNet can provide us with a consistent solution across our hospitals regardless of their cabling network."

LodgeNet's focus on improving patient care delivery is enhanced by their entertainment capabilities as well. "For children's hospitals, offering entertainment options like Nintendo® games and expanded children's movie choices is crucial to making patients and families feel comfortable," said Gary Kolbeck, General Manager for LodgeNet Healthcare. "A child who is entertained and engaged in activities that distract from procedures and the length of stay is more likely to respond positively to the care they receive." Specifically, the agreement gives hospitals interested in providing their patient and families with this solution pricing that is standardized and pre-negotiated. CHCA is also able to leverage their membership with Premier, a group purchasing organization, because both LodgeNet and MDM are provider members. "The total cost of ownership for hospitals on everything we provide is very low compared to other solutions," said Lee Whittaker, President of MDM Healthcare. "We're very proud to offer this arrangement to CHCA owner hospitals." LodgeNet is currently providing interactive patient television solutions to several CHCA owner hospitals.
