Frisco Kicks Off the Holiday with Wassail Days and Caroling for a Cause
The Town of Frisco hosts a traditional holiday celebration with Wassail drinking and caroling to benefit Flight for Life
FRISCO, Colo., Dec. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Town of Frisco will spread holiday cheer with a Colorado-style winter wonderland during its annual Wassail Days, Dec. 3 - 12, 2010. Visitors can participate in holiday festivities such as Wassail drinking, caroling, sleigh rides, breakfast with Santa and many more old-fashioned holiday traditions. Wassail Days in Frisco is the perfect getaway for a family day or a holiday weekend in the mountains.
This year Frisco is making the holiday experience even more meaningful with Caroling for a Cause, an attempt to gather the largest group of carolers in Colorado and to raise much-needed funds for Flight for Life. Frisco is asking carolers to join together to sing traditional holiday carols and to each bring $5 to donate to Flight for Life. Flight for Life relies almost exclusively on donations to fund its operations. Caroling for a Cause will take place on Main Street from noon to 2 p.m. on Dec. 11, 2010, during the last day of the week-long Wassail Days celebration.
Wassail Days wouldn't be complete without the annual Wassail competition. Participating retailers along Main Street will welcome holiday shoppers with steaming cups of homemade Wassail, a delicious mixture of cider and spices. At the end of the day, shoppers can vote for their favorite Wassail recipe and enter to win a summer vacation getaway, complete with lodging in Frisco and tickets to the 18th annual Colorado Barbecue Challenge held on Frisco's Main Street in June.
Wassail is a centuries-old holiday tradition - simply a wish "to be in good health and fortune." There are many Wassail traditions throughout the world, but in the Town of Frisco, Wassail Days represents an old-fashioned family holiday in a charming mountain town. It's a time for people to slow down and reflect on the season and share in good times and good cheer.
