Falco's Text and Notebook at Dorotheum Auction

Falco's Text and Notebook at Dorotheum Auction

VIENNA, Austria, December 3, 2010/PRNewswire/ -- "I love songs that start out, almost as if by chance, and go
on forever, like fate." This is just one many ideas that Falco recorded in a
voluminous A4 notebook dated 1983/84, one of a number of Falco's near
legendary notebooks, long thought to have disappeared. The 1983 manuscript -
given by Falco as a personal gift to a friend - will now come up for auction
at the Dorotheum autograph auction on 10th December 2010 in Vienna, Austria.
The starting price for this rarity has been set at 15.000 Euro.

The notebook dates to the period between the release of
Falco's first album, "Einzelhaft" and that of his second, "Junge Römer", and
contains stray ideas, word play, quotes, as well as variant lyrics for the
songs featured on the "Junge Römer" album (Junge Römer, Brillantin brutal,
Ihre Tochter, Steuermann, Kann es Liebe sein). The world star enjoyed the
same kind of language game associated with the "Wiener Gruppe" group of poets
and often used a peculiar mixture of Viennese dialect, High German and
English. Such linguistic versatility made Falco one of the forerunners of the
German language Hip-Hop music scene.

Falco (1957 - 1998), born Hans Hölzel, was one of the most
famous pop stars of the nineteen-eighties. His 1985 hit "Rock me Amadeus" is
the only title by a German language singer that made it to the top of the US
charts. He died in a car accident in the Dominican Republic.

Dorotheum, founded 1707, is the world's oldest auction house
and the biggest auction house in Continental Europe.
