NEW YORK, Nov. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, November 9th, the Peter G. Peterson Foundation (PGPF) will launch "OweNo," a nationwide public engagement campaign to educate Americans about the causes and consequences of the soaring federal debt and long-term deficits and to encourage Americans to join a national movement to address these important fiscal challenges. The PGPF campaign will launch in the days following a heated midterm election with a focus on fiscal issues, and weeks before the anticipated delivery of fiscal reform recommendations by the National Commission for Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. The PGPF public engagement campaign will work to build a consensus among concerned citizens of all political persuasions on the need for a sensible plan for our fiscal future.

The campaign launch at Washington D.C.'s Newseum will feature remarks by Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad(D-ND), Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN), and SenatorPete Domenici (R-NM). Foundation Chairman Peter G. Peterson and Vice Chairman Michael Peterson will outline the campaign and unveil an advance screening of campaign television commercials that will run nationally and in select cities. The multimedia campaign will include television commercials, online advertising, and social media tools that will encourage the public to visit the campaign website to sign up to learn more about our fiscal crisis, and find out what they can do to help solve it.
