SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The "great artists, great songs, great price" slogan of a new series of albums proves true once again with the second wave of releases in the aptly named Icon series from Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). The new collections released November 2, 2010 from 10 major artists spanning rock, R&B and country feature their greatest hits, signature tunes and fan favorites. From the first greatest hits album from Puddle Of Mudd and first "best of" combining Jodeci and K-Ci & Jo Jo; from Scorpions and Bachman-Turner Overdrive to War and Barry White; from The Oak Ridge Boys and The Statler Brothers to Jessica Andrews, their editions in the Icon series are the ultimate fan-friendly retrospectives.
Each Icon album contains 12 tracks. Expanded 24-track, 2-CD packages are also available for Jodeci/K-Ci & Jo Jo, Barry White, Scorpions and The Statler Brothers.
The Icon albums are:
--Jodeci/K-Ci & Jo Jo - Icon (Hip-O/UMe): One of the most popular R&B groups of the '90s, Jodeci also spawned the platinum duo K-Ci & Jo Jo. Now, for the first time, the best from both entities is presented in one package, as a single-CD and a 2-CD Icon. Among the Jodeci cuts are the R&B #1s "Forever My Lady," "Stay," "Come & Talk To Me" and "Cry For You." Among the K-Ci & Jo Jo tracks is the #1 Pop/#1 R&B "All My Life."
--Puddle Of Mudd - Icon (Geffen/UMe): Multiplatinum alt-metal rockers Puddle Of Mudd compile their biggest hits for the first time. The collection features "Control," "She Hates Me," "Away From Me," "Psycho" and the #1 Modern Rock "Blurry," the latter's radio edit making its commercial debut. Also included are the band's 2009 singles "Stoned" and "Keep It Together."
--War - Icon (Avenue/UMe): Emerging from Los Angeles in the turbulent '70s, War went from street favorites to pop sensations with the classics "Why Can't We Be Friends," "Low Rider" and "Summer." This Icon marks the band's debut on UMe.
--Bachman-Turner Overdrive - Icon (Mercury/UMe): With timeless anthems such as "Takin' Care Of Business," "Roll On Down The Highway" and the #1 "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet," BTO, led by Randy Bachman (formerly of The Guess Who), dominated the airwaves in the '70s and remains a classic rock favorite.
--Barry White - Icon (Mercury/UMe): One of the most recognizable voices in music, Barry White provided the soundtrack to love with the smashes "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe," "Never, Never Gonna Give You Up," "You're The First, The Last, My Everything" and the #1 instrumental hit "Love's Theme." The 2-CD Icon adds another dozen greats, including the R&B Top 10s "Playing Your Game, Baby" and "Your Sweetness Is My Weakness."
--Scorpions - Icon (Mercury/UMe): The Scorpions have rocked the world for four decades. Both the single-CD and 2-CD Iconeditions include the anthems "Rock You Like A Hurricane," "No One Like You" and "Wind Of Change," and span the band's entire career with the recent "Humanity" and "Raised On Rock."
--The Oak Ridge Boys - Icon (MCA Nashville/UMe): One of Country's greatest vocal groups, The Oak Ridge Boys are spotlighted with 11 #1 hits, from "Elvira" and "American Made" to "Bobbie Sue," plus their breakthrough recording "Y'All Come Back Saloon."
--The Statler Brothers - Icon (Mercury Nashville/UMe): The 12 greatest hits by one of Country's most beloved singing groups include four #1s--"Elizabeth," "Do You Know You Are My Sunshine?," "My Only Love" and "Too Much On My Heart"--plus favorite "Flowers On The Wall." The 2-CD Icon adds a dozen more Country Top 20s.
--Jessica Andrews - Icon (Geffen/UMe): Much like today's Taylor Swift, Jessica Andrews was 15 years old when she debuted on the charts ("I Will Be There For You"). Later she would score the Country #1 "Who I Am." As she matured, so too did her subject matter, leading to the hits "There's More To Me Than You," "Unbreakable Heart" and "You Go First (Do You Wanna Kiss)."
