Omnicom Group Agencies are Omnipresent at Cannes

NEW YORK, June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Omnicom Group, Inc. (NYSE: OMC) agencies once again topped the rankings at the International Advertising Festival in Cannes, further solidifying their hold when it comes to creativity.

A combination of agencies from the BBDO, DDB and TBWA Worldwide networks won five (5) of the coveted Grand Prix awards handed out in 12 categories, as well as the first-ever Grand Prix for Good.

In addition, BBDO's Brazilian agency, Almap BBDO, was named Agency of the Year, and BBDO Worldwide and DDB Worldwide were ranked #1 and #2, respectively, as the most-awarded agency networks at the festival. Rankings are based on the network's performance across all of the competition's communication categories, ranging from Cyber to Design, as well as Direct, Film, Media, Outdoor, Press, Promotion, PR, Radio and Titanium/Integrated. For BBDO, this marks the fourth year in a row that the network has topped this list.

TBWA\Chiat\Day created the most decorated campaign at Cannes - "Replay" for PepsiCo's Gatorade. The campaign reunites two high school team rivals after 15 years. Documentary footage followed these players for four months leading up to the reunion game. The story was told across all media and in all forms. The campaign grabbed two Grand Prix honors, for Promotion and Public Relations, along with four Gold Lions. One of these Golds was in the coveted Integrated category.

The other Grand Prix winners created by Omnicom agencies include work from DDB Stockholm for Volkswagen, which won a Grand Prix in Cyber; a film from DDB London and DDB Worldwide for Philips, which was presented the Grand Prix in the newly created Film Craft category; and a print campaign from Almap BBDO in Brazil for Billboard, which won the Grand Prix in Print. Beyond this, AMV BBDO in London was presented the first-ever Grand Prix for Good for a campaign it created on behalf of the Metropolitan Police called "Choose your own ending."

Fleishman-Hillard, one of Omnicom's PR agencies, won Gold for its efforts for Papa John's pizza. DDB Shanghai took home the second Gold ever won by an agency from China for its design work for the China Environmental Protection Foundation (the first was won by TBWA\China for outdoor in 2008). AMV BBDO was named the Direct Agency of the Year. In addition, Lew'Lara TBWA in Sao Paulo, Brazil finished third for Media Agency of the Year.
