NAMM and the Music Products Industry Lend a Hand to Nashville for Flood Relief
CARLSBAD, Calif., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- In the wake of the recent Nashville flood and ongoing recovery efforts, NAMM, the 109-year-old trade association of the international music products industry, announced today how the association and the music products industry will aid the ongoing relief efforts during its upcoming annual summer music product trade show called Summer NAMM. NAMM and the industry will assist the relief efforts as follows:
1. Moving forward with the Summer NAMM event as planned at the Nashville
Convention Center, June 18-20, 2010. Gathering the international music
products industry in Nashville will bring a much-needed estimated $13
million to the local economy during this difficult time.
2. NAMM will host a MusiCares® booth at Summer NAMM, where a silent
instrument auction will be held. Proceeds will benefit the MusiCares
Nashville Flood Relief fund, providing aid to local Nashville-area
musicians and their families who were impacted by the floods. NAMM
Members wishing to donate instruments for this should stop by this
booth or send an e-mail to jefffl@namm.org. 100 percent of the proceeds
generated from this auction will directly benefit local flood victims.
3. NAMM will also host an instrument donation booth at the show run by the
Nashville Musicians Association, AFM Local 257. Donated products
should be undamaged and in usable condition. The Nashville Musicians
Association is also taking flood relief donations on their Web site
www.nashvillemusicians.org
4. NAMM is working with Next Big Nashville, American Songwriter magazine,
the Nashville Musicians Association and MusiCares on a program called
The BIG Gear Giveback where NAMM vendors, gear companies and
compassionate musicians will have the opportunity to donate gear to
working musicians who lost the tools of their livelihood during the
Nashville Flood. The association will be celebrating this effort with a
special concert event at Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville on Friday, June
18, 2010. As a special thank you from NAMM, all donors at this event
will also receive a wristband to attend the Summer NAMM trade show as
part of a special event called "Wanna Play Music Sunday." For more

Reunion Blues and Ricky Skaggs team up to promote Nashville’s 1st RB Vintage Guitars Road Show
NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 20 - - When Reunion Blues, the music industry’s premier instrument case and bag company, signed Grammy award winning country music artist Ricky Skaggs as their newest product endorser, they had no idea their first collaboration would be to help gather together musicians in the wake of the worst flooding in Nashville’s memory.
Reunion Blues is bringing their popular Vintage Guitars Road Show to Nashville on June 20 as part of Summer NAMM’s “Wanna Play Music Sunday” at the Nashville Convention Center. Local musicians and their families and friends are encouraged to pull those old guitars out of the attic and bring them to the Summer NAMM registration area for a free professional appraisal by vintage guitar expert Allan Chiles from vintageguitarpro.com. D’Addario, the world’s largest string maker, will also be there to offer a free guitar restringing by Tom Spaulding, guitar tech for Keith Urban’s band, Aerosmith and John Fogerty.
According to Reunion Blues, Ricky Skaggs is not currently scheduled to make an appearance at this Vintage Guitars Road Show, but was quoted as saying he was happy to lend his name to assist in spreading the word if the end result helps just one more Nashville citizen adversely affected by recent events. “This is a great opportunity for local players to meet with other industry professionals and catch up with people they haven’t seen for years… especially after the flood.” said Ricky. “The intent is to provide a no-cost opportunity for Nashville musicians to reconnect and help one another get more gigs.”
Bring your guitar to the NAMM registration area from 10:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 20, and they will direct you from there. Only one guitar per person, please. Everyone will also have the opportunity to enter a drawing for any RB Continental case. Discount coupons for access to the NAMM convention down the hall will also be available, with secure storage of your instrument offered so you will not have to carry it around all day.
Visit www.reunionblues.com and click on the Facebook link, or visit www.namm.org.

Thanks John, for your post. It was a sad day when so many musicians instruments were damaged in the Nashville floods. It's hopeful that NAMM is going to be there supporting an area that is so musically creative and that is something no flood can ever wash away!
