Mega TV Appoints Veteran Television Executives to Support Growth and Expansion

MIAMI, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Spanish Broadcasting System Inc ("The Company" or "SBS") (NASDAQ:SBSA) is pleased to announce the appointments of Mr. Jose R Perez to Vice-President of Programming and Mr. Camilo Bernal to Manager of Affiliate Relations at Mega TV. The addition of these two television veterans reflects the ongoing growth and expansion of the Company's Mega TV network.

Jose R Perez is a recognized media executive and industry leader with nearly 20 years of experience in all areas of the entertainment industry, including content development, advertising, marketing, programming, publicity, and television administration. Before joining Mega TV, he was Senior Vice President of Entertainment and Programming Development for Univision Network, in charge of the creation and production of daytime and primetime shows including "Despierta America"; "Control" "Caliente"; "Fuera de Serie"; "El Super Blablazo"; "Estamos Unidos"; "A Millon"; and "Los Metiches," among others.
Other duties at the network included the development of programs for other Univision divisions, as well as recruitment, training and management of Univision's top creative, production and on-air talent. Mr. Perez was instrumental in launching the careers of actor/singer sensation Carlos Ponce, ABC's "Modern Life" Sofia Vergara, and Cote de Pablo from CBS's "NCIS," among others. Other on-air talent launched under the artistic development initiative at Univision included Fernando Arau, Giselle Blondet, Leslie Ann Machado, Carla Martinez, Rafael Jose, Raul Gonzalez, and Omar Germenos.
Mr. Perez also served as the Vice President of Daytime Programming at Telemundo Network Group, where he was responsible for supervising all of the network's daytime original programming including "Laura en America"; "Rocio"; "Caso Cerrado"; "Mariana"; and "Nitido". He also worked on the development and production of Emilio Estefan's independent co-productions such as: "Voces of America"; "Frecuencia"; and a two-hour prime time music special "Tributo a los Heroes."
Mr. Perez also oversaw the development, production and supervision of morning and afternoon news, talk and entertainment daily live radio shows on Spanish Broadcasting System's WCMQ-Clasica 92.3 FM, WXDJ- El Zol 95.7 FM, WRMA-Romance 106.7 FM in the Miami market.
Camilo Bernal is an accomplished Consultant/Sr. Advisor in Media Sales and Business Development with over 18 years of domestic and international success in all facets of traditional and digital media entertainment distribution. His sound sales acumen has been recognized in the areas of service/product demand generation, multi-project management, contract negotiations, marketing strategy development and improvement of customer retention levels and relations. Mr. Bernal most recently managed Sales & Business Development for Worldvibe Entertainment Group, a full spectrum entertainment company specializing in television production, touring, merchandising and tech marketing, providing Latin entertainment to Spanish speaking consumers in North America and South America.
Mr. Bernal also has significant experience working with start-ups and Fortune 500 companies such as Discovery Communications, NBC Universal, Brightstar Corp., IDT Telecom, CycleLogic and mDialog. During his eight-year tenure at Discovery, Mr. Bernal held various management positions in Affiliate Sales & Relations, including Executive Director of Business Development-New Media, where he was responsible for the launch of new revenue-generating services for their portfolio of entertainment properties (i.e. Discovery Channel, Animal Planet), including digital/interactive TV, wireless/mobile content development, broadband solutions, and pay-per-view products.
Mr. Bernal holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications from Florida State University. A strong advocate for community service, he has serviced on the regional Board of the American Red Cross and headed up fund raising for the Special Olympics.
