The Genesee Brewery Summer Concert is BACK!

The Genesee Brewery Summer Concert is BACK!

Gin Blossoms and Soul Asylum are set to "Rock the Cans"

ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The Genesee Brewery announced today that it's bringing back a bigger, better summer concert called "Rock the Cans" - inspired by the three iconic 35,862,784 ounce wrapped tanks representing the brewery's flagship beers. On Saturday, June 26 outside of the brewery, fans will enjoy nearly six hours of rock music featuring:

Gin Blossoms were college-circuit heroes turned multi-platinum album sellers in the late 90's with mega-hits including Hey Jealousy and Follow You Down. Soul Asylum, best known for their award-winning hit Runaway Train, is re-emerging with their first new release since 1998.

"We know you missed the concert last year and we're thrilled to answer the call by bringing back a more exciting show for you this year," said North American Breweries' CEO Rich Lozyniak. "Where else can you see bands from our own backyard with national acts that have crossed the globe? We promise to deliver that and more at 'Rock the Cans.'"

In keeping with the "Rock the Cans" theme, the brewery is encouraging concert-goers to donate canned goods that will benefit Foodlink, the regional food bank designated to receive all net proceeds from the show.

"We are committed to Rochester, its neighboring communities and the organizations within the region," said Lozyniak. "That's why the Genesee Brewery chose Foodlink as this year's very deserving beneficiary. We hope everyone will come out to enjoy a fun evening of rock music, bring a canned good and support this vibrant community."

"We're so excited and grateful that the brewery is supporting us again, this time with 'Rock the Cans,'" said Foodlink Executive Director, Tom Ferraro. "Hunger is a 12-month issue. Although we distribute more than 10 million pounds of food throughout Central and Western New York annually, most people don't recognize the great need in summertime, when kids are out of school and parents turn to our emergency agencies to help put food on the table. We know this effort will greatly increase the supply we can share with our neighbors in need."

Gates open for the all-ages show at 3:30 p.m., with bands taking the stage at 4 p.m. Concessions will serve food and all the Genesee Breweries' beers and malt beverages including: Genny Light, Genesee, Genesee Cream Ale, the original Honey Brown Lager, Dundee Ales & Lagers, and Seagram's Escapes. Wristbands will be given to attendees over the age of 21, with proper ID.

Tickets to "Rock the Cans" can be purchased exclusively at the Customer Service Desk at all Wegmans Food Markets for only $12 beginning May 8 at 8 a.m. For a chance to "win 'em before you can buy 'em," listen to 98.9 FM The BUZZ on May 6 and 7.

"Every day, brewery employees work hard to brew quality products for our consumers and loyal fans. This summer concert is our way of saying 'cheers' to those crafting our products and those enjoying them responsibly," said Lozyniak.
