Suzuki Rides to 'The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D' Premiere

- Suzuki presents 'The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D' with Quiksilver, Tahiti Tourisme. - 'The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D' features nine-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater and award-winning Grand Vitara.

BREA, Calif., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- American Suzuki Motor Corp. (ASMC) today announced details for the world premiere of "The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D" film for IMAX® theaters, which features nine-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater and Raimana Van Bastolaer surfing one of the world's most challenging waves, Tahiti's Teahupo'o (pronounced Tee-ah-hoo-poh-oh). On Feb. 8, invited guests will be treated to a private screening of "The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D" and a Tahitian-style after party, with live performances by Mason Jennings and DJ Chris Holmes at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. Also making an appearance on the red carpet, Suzuki will display its Grand Vitara (which played a co-starring role in the IMAX movie), all-new 2010 Kizashi (pronounced Kee-Zah-Shee) sedan and SX4 SportBack, SX4 Crossover and RMZ-4 Equator pickup.

"Suzuki takes pride in making vehicles for consumers who get out and experience the world. Few activities personify this brand attitude better than surfing," said Gene Brown, vice president of marketing and public relations for American Suzuki Automotive Operations. "We think this film expresses the outlook and excitement that our customers embody and embrace."

"The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D" focuses on Tahiti and the volcanic islands of French Polynesia, home to the Polynesian seafaring culture and some of the world's most challenging surfing, as well as astounding coral reef ecosystems that are at the interface between the island and ocean.

At the heart of the film is wave formation science, allowing viewers to understand the genesis and growth pattern of waves such as Tahiti's legendary Teahupo'o, that deliver the highest energy density of any renewable resource. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provided scientific consultation for the film and will be offering a series of film-related community activities about the care and protection of the world's oceans.

"The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D" is a Stephen Low Film, created in association with K2 Communications, havoc Television and jointly sponsored by Suzuki, Quiksilver and Tahiti Tourisme. The film officially opens to the public at the California Science Center's IMAX® Theater on Feb. 12, 2010. 2010 Grand Vitara

Among the other great vehicles Suzuki produces, the Grand Vitara, recognized by Edmunds.com among its "Top Ten Most Affordable SUVs," and given Consumer Guide's "Best Buy" nod, continues to surprise and delight its owner base with its balance of genuine off-road capability, on-road composure and day-in, day-out livability. The vehicle's surprising off-road performance is matched by a reinforced-for-RWD unibody chassis having more in common with luxury SUVs than the car-based "soft roaders" more typically found at the Grand Vitara's price point. For 2010 the Grand Vitara adds a fully integrated standard navigation system, making it the least expensive SUV with this notable convenience feature.
