Kids Crooked House Goes Extreme

Kids Crooked House Goes Extreme

Kids Crooked House is a proud participant on ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition

WINDHAM, Maine, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- "Kids Crooked House!" "Kids Crooked House!" "Kids Crooked House!" That was what the crowd was cheering as owners Glen Halliday and Jeff Leighton of Maine-based Kids Crooked House pulled their truck onto the site of ABC's latest Extreme Makeover Home Edition, which will air on ABC at 8:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, December 13, 2009.

Glen and Jeff delivered a custom "deluxe" version of one of their most popular wooden playhouses for the recipient of Extreme's latest home makeovers where the backyard will also serve as an after school center for local under-privileged kids.

"It's an experience and feeling I'll never forget," said Halliday, who founded the company in 2006 with his cousin Jeff Leighton. "The whole experience was very moving to see how this experience, and our role in this project, affects an entire town."

Two years ago, Halliday and Kids Crooked House received the "Yahoo! Small Business" Award courtesy of Yahoo and the Trump Organization. Since then, Glen and his team have continued to expand the company, based on their founding principles of getting kids outdoors and playing actively and imaginatively. Not only have they expanded their playhouse offering, they've also teamed with theme parks, daycares, restaurants and released a suite of commercial Kids Crooked House models.

About Kids Crooked House

Based in Windham, Maine, Kids Crooked House was founded by fun-loving dads Glen Halliday and Jeff Leighton, who couldn't find a unique, affordable and imaginative playhouse for their young kids. They looked in all the big home centers and scoured dozens of web sites. The products either looked like a tool shed for lawnmowers or like a small city with a price to match. For the graphic designer and carpenter/electrician, the answer was simple: Build one of their own. The entire neighborhood was soon hanging out in Glen's back yard. So FUNky was his kid's new crooked house, the rest is (becoming) history. For more information about Kids Crooked House, visit www.kidscrookedhouse.com.
