Guitar Center Revolutionizes The Holiday Wish List With One-Of-A-Kind Poster Creator That Combines Music, Art and Passion
Patterned After Classic Music Imagery and Designed by a Select Group of Renowned Music Poster Artists, Personalized Wish Lists Showcase Musicians' Must-haves in Style
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Guitar Center, the world's largest musical instrument retailer, announced the unveiling of its innovative online "Wish List Poster Creator" (www.guitarcenter.com/wishlist). The brand new application advances the art of the online wish list by allowing musicians to share what they truly want this holiday season and share their passion by creating and presenting their holiday must-haves in the style of an iconic music poster. Guitar Center has commissioned some of today's hottest poster artists to design the interactive posters as a homage to a wide variety of genres, including indie, 60s, garage, new wave, propaganda, rockabilly, punk, psychedelic, metal and hatch.
Creating and sharing a Wish List Poster is engaging and simple. Musicians simply log on to www.guitarcenter.com/wishlist, choose an overall design, drag & drop items from Guitar Center's vast selection of merchandise onto their poster, and, if desired, add a personal message and upload their own photograph. The finished poster can then be taken "on tour" by uploading to Facebook, Twitter and MySpace or emailed directly to friends and family, who can then make their guaranteed-to-please purchases. Musicians that create a wish list will also be sent a coupon worth ten percent off a single item at Guitar Center.
"At Guitar Center, we know that musicians are extremely particular in terms of the types and brands of equipment they use, which can make them a bit challenging to buy for," said Scott Archambault, Director, Customer Acquisition, from Guitar Center. "First and foremost, these wish lists are designed to take the guess work out of gift giving. But we wanted to go one step further by enabling musicians to present the information in a personal, unique and passionate way."
In launching this application, authenticity was key. To that end, Guitar Center hand-selected the following artists based on their creative vision and their history of successful poster designs: Gregg Gordon (www.gigart.com), who has designed posters for Ween, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Umphrey's Mcgee; Henry Owings (www.chunkletgraphiccontrol), who has worked with The Fiery Furnaces, Ted Leo and the Pharmacistsand Mogwai; and Andrew McCraken (www.doublenaut.com), who has collaborated with Broken Social Scene, Jay Reatard, and Modest Mouse.
