Technical session will address advances in bandwidth saving techniques
DULUTH, Ga., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ:WGNR), a leading provider of equipment for television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, today announced that WEGENER Vice President Gary Pelkey will participate in the 2009 SMPTE Annual Tech Conference & Expo as part of the technical session titled "Advances in Compression Techniques." Pelkey will present "Move to HD Without Bandwidth Penalty; Perfecting HD Streaming" during Part I of technical session 12, on October 29th.
Pelkey's presentation will explore strategies for private video networks to move to HD (high definition video) broadcasting without expending exorbitant bandwidth costs as well as compare different media distribution options. Among the ideas presented will be file-based broadcasting platforms, MPEG-4 video compression and DVB-S2 satellite modulation, ideas for content creation and simulcasts to legacy TV monitors at the receive sites . Technical session 12 will be chaired by Paul Hearty of Ryerson University and includes a wide variety of presentations on topics related to video compression.
Gary Pelkey is Vice President, System Architect of WEGENER. Mr. Pelkey has worked at WEGENER for over 25 years in various Design and Management capacities. Prior to joining WEGENER, he worked for Loral, a manufacturer of military avionics equipment.
