Television Gets a Double Dose of Drama as MTV's Hit Series 'The Hills' and 'The City' Move to Tuesday Nights

Pop Culture Monday Mainstays Premiere Back-to-Back on New Night September 29th 'The Hills' Season Five, Part Two Airs at 10p.m. ET/PT and 'The City' Season One, Part Two at 10:30p.m. ET/PT

NEW YORK, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Tuesday night television is about to get a double dose of drama as MTV's hit series "The Hills" and "The City" prepare to dominate cable on a new night. Premiering Tuesday, September 29th, the two reality series MTV fans can't live without will air back-to-back for the first time with "The Hills" Season Five, Part Two at 10p.m. ET/PT and "The City" Season One, Part Two at 10:30p.m. ET/PT. Each running for 10 all-new episodes, the conflict continues on both shows as "Laguna Beach" alum Kristin Cavallari joins the cast of "The Hills" while on "The City," Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo embark on new career paths in fashion. As Whitney and Olivia begin working for Kelly Cutrone's People's Revolution and ELLE Magazine, respectively, they are joined by new cast members Roxy Olin and Erin Kaplan. With a new night, new drama and new people, one thing is clear: the next chapters for both shows are a whole new world.

When Season Five of "The Hills" returns the tension picks up right where it left off, and while Lauren Conrad may have left the tumult behind - there's one person primed to take over her TV dominion. Since Heidi and Spencer's wedding, Lauren's nemesis from high school, Kristin Cavallari, is back on the scene and she's not going anywhere. Having nearly conquered LA, she has yet to find one person to share her success with and when she crosses paths with Justin - Bobby, sparks fly.

With a new man in her life, Audrina seems to have moved on from Justin, but that doesn't mean she's ready to see him with another girl - especially if it's Lauren's oldest rival Kristin. Meanwhile, Brody is still one-half of a happy couple with his Playboy Playmate girlfriend Jayde but their relationship may not be able withstand his ex, Kristin. Finally, Heidi and Spencer are moving to suburbia to begin a life of wedded bliss but they quickly discover that married life won't be as perfect as their storybook wedding.

When "The City" Season One resumes, it's back to work for the cast and with new jobs, new boys, new friends and New York in the mix, anything can happen. When Whitney moved from LA to New York City she was a girl who had it all: the job, the friends, the boyfriend and the apartment. In New York though, things can change overnight and now, in "The City" everything is different. Whitney decides to take a chance at her dream of becoming a designer and leaves her position at Diane von Furstenberg to work under the critical eye of Kelly Cutrone at People's Revolution. As she hits the ground running as part of Kelly's PR and events staff, Whitney looks to Kelly for direction as she develops her own designs.

Meanwhile, Olivia Palermo has wasted no time parlaying her promotion at Diane von Furstenberg into a new position at ELLE Magazine. Offered a spot in the Accessories department by Joe Zee, ELLE's Creative Director, Olivia's partnered with the magazine's PR Director Erin Kaplan - a young, ambitious upstart who could bring her meteoric rise to a screeching halt.

Whitney is single, dating and settling into a new place in the West Village, but before she can get too comfortable her high school friend Roxy Olin from LA shows up needing a place to crash. While Roxy looks for a job, Whitney manages to get Roxy a position working alongside her at People's Revolution where she quickly inserts herself in the middle of Whitney's dream of becoming a designer. Not content to stay on the sidelines of Whitney's life, Roxy butts heads with Kelly Cutrone who wonders if Roxy will ultimately help or hurt Whitney's career.
