RevGen Rocks 30,000 Concertgoers Over Labor Day Weekend
Performances from Chart-Topping Acts Including Switchfoot, Underoath, Relient K, Delirious and MercyMe Ignite Fans; Partner Charities Benefit from Collective Generosity
FRENCHTOWN, N.J., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Revelation Generation (www.revgen.org), held annually at Revelation Farms in Hunterdon County, took another step in securing its place as one of the most highly anticipated music festivals in the mid-Atlantic region. Celebrating its fifth anniversary this past Labor Day weekend, the festival welcomed approximately 30,000 fans over the course of two days - topping last year's mark of 23,000. This year's RevGen featured a number of high profile, chart-topping acts including Switchfoot, Underoath, MercyMe, Relient K, Jars of Clay, Emery, The Ember Days and many more. In total, over 40 performers took to five incredibly diverse stages. Fans also enjoyed a range of non-music activities including a massive merch tent, professional BMX bike and skate demos, games, regional foods and more.
Adding to the concert's success, partner charities D.A.R.E. and To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) - a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide - benefited from heightened awareness and significant financial support through the generous donations of festival attendees. Hunterdon Prevention Resources (HPR), a local drug prevention agency that strives to empower individuals with hands on demonstrations about the effects of drug use, also had a presence at the festival. Finally, Glen Duncan of the Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program led a question and answer session about practical solutions to substance dependency.
"We were blown away at the level of generosity and sense of community we saw at RevGen," said D.A.R.E. NJ chairman Nick Demauro. "This festival really is an anomaly in today's concert scene - I can't think of anywhere else where so many different people can come together, experience some great music and simply be themselves."
The Philadelphia, New York and Nashville Stages churned out impressive sets to even more fans than last year while the newly added Urban Stage and the Come & Live Stage were welcomed with open arms. The Urban Stage brought an entirely new sound to RevGen, featuring hip-hop and rap artists like Lecrae and Group One Crew. To complement, the Come & Live Stage attracted crowds seeking to hear the music industry's latest up-and-comers as well as stage emcee Chad Johnson. Johnson, who is with the Come & Live label, has taken a revolutionary approach to supporting artists by helping them impact fans' lives in a positive way.
"Everyone involved in this year's show - staff, bands, fans - are raving about how well the show went," said festival promoter Tim Harris. "And I think it goes beyond two days of great music. With D.A.R.E., TWLOHA and our other partners we were able to give something back to the community and we were able to welcome people from all sorts of different backgrounds - that's a huge part of what RevGen is all about."
A RevGen feature in its second year, Tent 7 experienced a massive rise in popularity. Tent 7 provides lucky fans the opportunity to sit in on intimate interview sessions with their favorite performers. Throughout the festival, artists stopped by to share their stories - and the lines of fans seeking to join in extended across the field in front of the New York Stage.
"This year's RevGen show was amazing on so many levels," said concertgoer Evan Miklosey, a student at Delaware Valley Regional High School. "Every band I saw sounded amazing, but there's more to RevGen than the music - it's a sense of community that makes this festival something totally its own."
