WorkWorld Media Awards 2009: Call for Entries

LONDON, July 27/PRNewswire/ -- Entries are now invited for the 2009 WorkWorld Media Awards.

The prestigious WorkWorlds seek to recognise outstanding written and
broadcast journalism covering the fields of work, management, business and
economics. This year marks the 23rd year of the independent and peer-reviewed
awards.

A prominent panel of judges will review entries for eight categories:
Reporter of the year; Feature journalist award; Columnist of the year;
Broadcast programme award; Broadcast news reporter of the year; Journalist to
watch; Online journalist award and the Lifetime achievement award.

Entries are judged on expertise, depth, authority, use of language, wit,
flair, good judgement and accuracy.

Will Hutton, executive vice chairman of The Work Foundation, said:

"The WorkWorlds remain the most respected and prestigious awards in this
field. As the drama of the recession continues to unfold opening up this
agenda with compelling new force, we encourage journalists from across the
spectrum - new media, print, television and radio - to enter. It has never
been more important to celebrate journalism about the world of work."

Last year, awards were scooped by journalists from the BBC, The
Economist, the Daily Mail, Hazards, Human Resources and The Observer, while
the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Polly Toynbee, columnist from The
Guardian.

Nominations close at 6pm on Friday 6 November 2009 and the award ceremony
will take place at The Work Foundation, 21 Palmer St London, SW1H 0AD on 20

1. Entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form which can be
found at http://www.theworkfoundation.com. Journalists can either
nominate themselves or someone else. Entries must arrive at The Press

2. Work submitted must have appeared between Saturday 16 November 2008
and Friday 6 November 2009.

3. Unfortunately any submitted articles, CDs or DVD cannot be returned.

4. The judges' decisions are final. No correspondence may be entered
into.
