About the performers:
Daughtry- Performing in Seattle, WA (Friday, July 17)
19/RCA recording artist, Daughtry achieved global success with its self-titled debut. A hit in both artistic and commercial terms, the band's Grammy-nominated, quintuple-platinum debut accomplished the rare feat of charting three #1 hits. With the July 14 release of Leave This Town, Daughtry is back. Singer Chris Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely recorded the album's 12 songs in Los Angeles with returning producer Howard Benson (All-American Rejects, My Chemical Romance). The entire album features inspired performances by the quintet held together by anthemic hooks, impassioned vocals, and lyrics laced with wisdom found through searching horizons and rear views. The songs shift smoothly from powerful arena-rock ("No Surprise," "Ghost of Me"), to hushed ballads ("September") and emotional mid-tempo rockers ("Life After You," "Learned My Lesson"). Leave This Town also includes the country-influenced "Tennessee Line," that features vocal harmonies by country-music superstar Vince Gill. The Offspring- Performing in San Francisco, CA (Friday, July 31)
Dexter Holland (vocals, guitar), Noodles (guitar), Greg K (bass) and Pete Parada (drums) are currently on tour in support of their new album Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace, an impressive new set of songs from one of rock's most exciting and enduring bands. The singles "Hammerhead" and "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" are alternative and rock radio staples along with the crossover hit "Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?." The Offspring has performed over 1000 shows across the globe and are known for their many hits including "Self Esteem," "Come Out And Play (Keep 'Em Separated)," "The Kids Aren't Alright" and "(Can't Get My) Head Around You." Montgomery Gentry - Performing in Dallas, TX (Wednesday, August 5)
Montgomery Gentry's journey into the front ranks of American music has been one of the most gratifying sagas of the past decade. Their road to gold and platinum albums, CMA and ACM awards, a Grammy nomination and highly successful tours has been paved both with musical integrity and with an abiding respect for the people and the genre they represent. Eddie Montgomery's soul-stirring baritone and 19th-century outlaw look have become iconic among country's rowdier fans and Troy Gentry's piercing tenor and classic good looks provide the perfect counterpoint. Seldom have entertainers been identified so closely with their fans, and seldom has the respect and affection run so deep in both directions. They share blue-collar outlooks; sunup-to-sundown work ethics; rootedness in God, country and family; and the ability to celebrate life and endure hardship. It is a relationship few other artists in the often volatile world of show business can boast. Now in their 10th year on the national stage, Montgomery Gentry can look back on one of country's most impressive legacies. They have released more than 20 charted singles, have hit the top of the singles charts three times, and now, with the release of Back When I Knew It All, they have taken the next big step forward. The album's title cut and first single propelled to the top of the charts more quickly than any single in the duo's history. The CD shows Troy to be one of modern country's most stirring vocalists, while also showcasing Eddie's vocal talents, his ability to move from the raucous to the sublime, and his world-class songwriting skills. The album, which both regard as the quintessential Montgomery Gentry CD, continues their tradition of connectedness as it restates their position as the honky-tonk poets of their generation. T-Pain - Performing in New Orleans, LA (Tuesday, August 11)
T-Pain, burst onto the rhythmic scene in 2005 with his debut album, Rappa Ternt Sanga, featuring the successful singles "I'm Sprung" and "I'm N Luv (Wit A Stripper)" that sold a combined five million ring-tones. A former microphone fiend with the rap pack known as the Nappy Headz, T-Pain removed the borders that divide hip-hop and soul to create his own unique and successful style. In 2007, his sophomore album, Epiphany, offered fans a variety of musical styles that embraced both the old-school and current R&B, showcased T-Pain as a pro both on the microphone and behind the boards, and became the first #1 album of his career, ultimately becoming certified platinum. Since the release of that album, T-Pain has produced numerous hits of his own and for other rappers and R&B singers including Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, Plies, Flo Rida, Chris Brown and more. He has had more than 10 top ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100, is the recipient of the BMI 2009 Pop Writer of the Year, and was rated #34 of the most influential people on the Time 100 List in 2009. Dierks Bentley - Performing in Atlanta, GA (Tuesday, August 18)
Dierks Bentley's kind of country has never been straight-up-the-middle. Instead, the Arizona-native grew up on a potent hybrid of honky-tonk, bluegrass, classic country and modern rock & roll, forging his own sound along the way. A winner of the prestigious CMA Horizon Award, Bentley sold almost 5 million copies of his previous three studio albums, which included 10 top-10 singles and seven number 1 hits. His latest album, Feel That Fire, features a 12-song serving of rockers and ballads with a dash of honky tonk and bluegrass, and has the pulsing energy, passion and dynamic sensibility of his praised live show. For Bentley, Feel That Fire, whose first two singles have already reached the #1 spot on the charts, is about the passion of the moment - it's about moving forward, but remembering where you came from. Darius Rucker - Performing in Nashville, TN (Monday, August 24)
Capitol Records Nashville artist Darius Rucker's first country album, Learn To Live, debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, following a multi-week #1 debut country single, "Don't Think I Don't Think About It." His second single, "It Won't Be Like This For Long" also landed atop all three country singles charts. A huge achievement by anyone's measure! Released to critical and commercial success, Rucker's Learn To Live is a project steeped in the country traditions of meaningful lyrics and resonant melodies, yet is still an album that sounds completely modern. It takes the listener on a voyage through life's experiences dealing with major themes such as falling in love, birth and death, and features guest appearances by Brad Paisley, Vince Gill and Alison Krauss. New to the country scene, Rucker made the transition from rock to country quite simply when millions of fans that knew Rucker as the voice of Hootie & The Blowfish, the Grammy-winning group whose album Cracked Rear View sold more than 16 million copies, happily followed the singer/songwriter in his natural evolution to country music. These days, the singer/songwriter is grateful that the genre has embraced him wholeheartedly, is devoted to his solo career and to promoting his current album, watching earnestly as his third single, "Alright" is Top 5 on the country singles charts and climbing! Maxwell - Performing in Boston, MA (Wednesday, September 2)
After an extended hiatus, Maxwell, the sexy ambassador of soul has returned with a brand new look and a fresh yet deliciously vintage sound. The same artist who brought us classic songs like "Sumthin' Sumthin'," "Ascension (Don't Ever Wonder)" and "Lifetime" (not to mention the unforgettably ethereal cover of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work") is back with a challenging, mature, sensual, courageous and emotionally open album entitled, BLACKsummers'night (Columbia). His fourth studio album and first in eight years, BLACKsummers'night is the sound of an artist taking the commitment to his craft and the conversation with his audience that much further. Needless to say, it is a conversation that's been overdue; but as the soft-spoken, multi-platinum artist sees it, in order to come back it was necessary to step away. The album is the first installment of a trilogy entitled BLACKSUMMERS'NIGHT. BLACK is a much darker but soulful compilation, SUMMERS' leans more toward the gospel side and NIGHT is more a cool collection of slow jams. Composed of nine indelible songs BLACKsummers'night finds Maxwell exploring life with a bold and purposeful sensuality unmistakably his own, and ready to give old fans and new ones a sensory experience that he never fails to bring.
