Beth Accomando, president of the San Diego Film Critics Society; Mark A. Altman, writer/producer of the hit ABC television show Castle; and Marc Bernardin, editor for Entertainment Weekly magazine serve as judges for films in competition. The films have no current distribution deals in place.
"Comic-Con is the meeting place for talent from a variety of popular arts fields," commented David Glanzer, spokesperson for the non-profit event, "and we're excited to see such talented filmmakers in competition this year."
Films will compete in seven categories: Action/Adventure, Animation, Comics-Oriented, Documentary, Horror/Suspense, Humor/Parody and Science Fiction/Fantasy. This year 64 features, shorts and documentaries will screen as part of the four-day event. Schedules permitting, many films will include a member of the production company on hand to discuss their project and answer questions from the audience.
