Chemical Heritage Foundation Honored by New York Festivals Awards

CHF's Distillations podcast recognized for excellence in broadcasting

PHILADELPHIA, July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chemical Heritage Foundation (CHF) is proud to announce that its scientific podcast series Distillations has received a New York Festivals Award for Radio Programming & Promotion. Distillations received three Bronze World Medals for Self-Experimentation (Episode 41); Children's Health (Episode 50); and Global Health (Episode 51). It also received a Finalist Certificate for The Science of Sleep (Episode 44).

The Distillations series began in December 2007 and showcases chemistry from the past, present and future. Listeners can download podcasts with host Meir Rinde and other contributors every other Friday for interviews, monologues, features and reviews that offer an historical perspective on modern-day scientific issues. For example, the award-winning Global Health episode was broadcast in honor of the twentieth anniversary of World AIDS day. The ten-minute podcast focused on low-cost alternatives to water filtration systems, such as the utilization of silver. The episode also included an interview with a bioethicist who spoke about the ethics of conducting clinical trials in developing countries, as well as scientists' quests for an affordable Meningitis vaccine.

The New York Festivals Radio Programming and Promotions awards have been recognizing The World's Best Work in radio broadcasting for 52 years. Each year NYF receives entries from radio stations, networks and independent producers from over 30 countries. For more information about the NYF Awards visit: http://www.newyorkfestivals.com/.
