Bands that JAM for Africa!

LOCAL TEEN DOES IT AGAIN FOR AFRICA

DETROIT, July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The economy might be tight in Detroit with layoffs, plant closings, bankruptcy and foreclosures. But in Africa, there is no "tightening of the belt," no downsizing possibilities, children are starving and desperately need food and clean water to drink.

Local teen, Morgan Fisher, 16, Troy MI continues to raise funds for those children with her project: Bands that JAM for Africa. This Sunday Morgan has assembled bands from across the country that will be contributing their talents to play for Africa.

On Sunday, July 26, 2009 at 7:30 pm in downtown Rochester, Michigan. The Factory will showcase the following bands from New York, Colorado and Michigan: Secret Secret Dino Club, Hello Control, P.H.I.L.T.H.Y, Th? Unknowns, LEO and Stereophage. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10.00 at bandsthatjam@yahoo.com or at the door for $12.00.

Bands that JAM for Africa

Bands that JAM for Africa was founded by Morgan Fisher in 2008 at the age of 14. Morgan took her love of music, and has raised thousands of dollars, enlisted the help of hundreds of teenagers covering 14 states and Switzerland in her effort to feed children. Morgan says, "I just want to show teenagers it doesn't take much to make a difference, buy a ticket, enjoy a show, change a life." Morgan has been recognized by DoSomething.org and The Grammy Foundation for teens making a key change in the world.

100% of the proceeds go directly to feed children and help educate them in Africa through JAM International, an African Relief organization where $50.00 will feed and educate an African child for one year. JAM is a 501 ( c ) 3 organization.

Last year Bands that JAM for Africa raised enough money to feed and educate 100 children. The goal of this charity concert is to raise funds to feed 100 children 2009/2010 school year.
