It's Summertime and MI is Rocking With Three Exciting All-Star Events Featuring Real Guitar Heroes Shane Theriot, Steve Vai and Mike Stern

LOS ANGELES, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its ongoing commitment to expose students to the finest musicians in the world, Musicians Institute (www.mi.edu) in Hollywood is heating up this summer with all-star events featuring three genuine guitar heroes: Shane Theriot, Steve Vai and Mike Stern.

On Wednesday, July 22, Theriot, a New Orleans Strat-slinger and MI alumnus, will visit MI for a special open counseling session. Having worked with everyone from the Neville Brothers, LeAnn Rimes and Willie Nelson to Boz Scaggs, Little Feat, Sam Moore and Jewel, Shane will jam with guitar students, share his experiences and demonstrate ideas he employed while recording his forthcoming solo album.

On Thursday, August 6, MI welcomes guitar wizard Steve Vai for the world premiere of his newest concert DVD, "Where The Wild Things Are."

The concert was recorded at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, MN before a sold-out audience as part of Vai's successful "Sound Theories" tour. Steve was backed by a hand-picked group of world-class musicians including GIT graduate Dave Weiner (guitar, sitar).

After the one-hour showing, Steve will conduct a Q&A session with MI students, who will also be able to purchase the new DVD at a special price. Steve will be available to meet, greet, and sign after the event. Ibanez will be giving a new guitar away to one lucky MI student at the event, which is open to currently enrolled MI students only.

On Thursday, August 20, jazz great Mike Stern graces MI's Concert Hall for an exclusive live performance that, true to Stern's legacy, will touch on every genre from world music to bebop to modern fusion. The concert will feature a Q&A in which students may ask Stern about his Grammy-nominated solo albums, and his work with Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, David Sanborn, Billy Cobham and other legends.

Since 1977, Musicians Institute (MI) has trained thousands of graduates for careers in every genre of contemporary music. From the beginning, MI revolutionized music education with hands-on, intensive, performance-based programs taught by working professionals. Today, MI's unique, innovative approach includes degree and certificate programs for career-minded guitarists, bassists, drummers, vocalists, keyboardists, audio engineers, independent artists, guitar makers, music business professionals and filmmakers.
